I just went a month ago and saw it. It looked beautiful, and I talked to someone that had their wedding there a couple of years ago and it sounds like it would be a good choice for smaller weddings. The weekend we were there, the son of one of the owners of the Santa Teresa was getting married, and it was an amazing setup that flowed into the plaza in front, too! Initially, I wanted to have our wedding there, but the Santa Clara was a better fit for us when we went to go see it. My wedding planner likes to work with the Santa Clara because they are more flexible with a few things, but especially the liquor. The Santa Teresa will not let you bring your own alcohol, but the Santa Clara will, which can be considerably less expensive, if you look at the prices. Honestly, I think the planners don't mention it because other places are more flexible, that's all. It is as beautiful as it looks in pictures!
Oh, I just saw the other post. It's funny because I found that the Santa Clara is very receptive and actually less restrictive than the Santa Teresa, but that's just my experience so far. Juan Pablo at the Santa Clara is a character (in a good way) and has really accommodated all of our requests and great to work with (so far!) I've stayed at the Santa Teresa, too and loved it, including the food. I'm just giving you the info that I've experienced, but I hope it helps with your decision. You really can't go wrong, all the venues in Cartagena are amazing!!!
thanks everyone for your input; Patty, i would love to get some more info from you about the Santa Clara; it is actually my 1st choice but even though it's more flexible about bringing in vendors, it seems more expensive than the Santa Teresa. i met Juan Pablo when i was in Cartagena this past september, but didn't get to talk to him very much. how many guests do you have? was Juan pablo mindful of and helpful with your budget? do you feel comfortable sharing the price quote the Sofitel gave you for the reception? you can also email me at [email protected] any help would be great. i'm getting married Dec 16th and am trying to figure out a lot of things. :)
I did our wedding and reception in the Santa Teresa and I would highly recommend it - Maria Angelica is just plain awesome, and they were very accomodating with our budget, letting us tweak things until the very end. It was magical - if you are still considering them, I can write you offline with more details.
thanks Maria; I considered the Santa Teresa but actually ended up going with the Sofitel Santa Clara because it was a better fit for us; i'm sure our wedding would've been amazing at the Santa Teresa as well!
