We got married at Summer Winds in October 2008. The weather was gorgeous and sunny every single day of our two weeks there...until the day of our wedding! It was 45 degrees, windy, rainy, and miserable! The wedding was outside under a tent. We'd always said we'd get the tent just in case it rained...but what we didn't plan for were the winds and horizontal rain that required us having to get sidewalls for the tent at the last moment! Thank goodness for our wedding planner, she was able to call in a favor. The next day, the weather was gorgeous again (go figure). Our reception was held indoors, and it was wonderfully cozy after all the nastiness outside! I hope your day goes better. October is a tricky month, but I am sure yours will be perfect! Congrats!
I've been photographing weddings in this area for 7 years, and October is my absolute favorite month for weather, even if it is in hurricane season. The odds of great weather are high, and a hurricane is a rare event that shouldn't stop you. Plus, it's off-season which means you and your guests will have better rates on hotels and beach rentals. Congratulations! Ellen LeRoy
My daughter had her wedding in July last summer. The daytime weather was beautiful although a bit hot. It was an evening wedding on the beach with an outdoor reception. During the ceremony a huge black cloud came over the beach and a storm blew in. We were able to finish the ceremony without any trouble but weren't able to get photographs on the beach. It rained on and off the rest of the evening so we had to move most of the reception inside. Everything worked out well, a good time was had by all. The video on the beach is priceless.
