Rising Sun is based in Saint Helena, but they work in Sonoma. They are a small family operated caterer with great food and service. www.risingsuncatering.com
Elaine Bell is supposed to be great, but pricey. I got married at Cornerstone Gardens and used them as the caterer. They did a wonderful job! I had a pre-ceremony fruit, cheese, and bread display with iced-tea, lemonade, and water. Then we had 6 passed apps for the cocktail hour. Finally for dinner we had fillet and halibut for the main course, mashed potatoes, summer beans, bread, a salad, coffee, tea, and a dessert buffet for less than $65/person (excluding alcohol).
My wife and I used Wine Valley for both our rehearsal dinner at a private rental location as well as for our September wedding at BR Cohn winery. From a more relaxed family style rehearsal to our formal wedding they did everything extremely well. As we are in NY they were very helpful in making our destination wedding the successful event it was. They are very highly reccommended.
We used Elaine Bell and couldn't have been happier. We had about 180 people at BR Cohn in Sept. 08. The food was excellent and the service was fabulous. We looked at Alex's and Grapevine catering and Elaine Bell was actually less expensive for way better food in my opinion.
We are using Piper-Johnson for our wedding this Summer. We had the opportunity to meet with Terri and she is wonderful-the tasting they did for us was amazing. As a food professional, Terri understands that my standards are QUITE high and she and Nick have been great.
We did also meet with Andrea @ the girl and the fig CATERS-she's also amazing. For us, it came down to price, but they offer a very high quality menu for a decent price.
