Hmmm... If I remember correctly, Deer Park Manor isn't all that expensive and neither is the Fields. Both do a great job. :)
Our wedding was at the end of May and we were married at the Century Suites Gazebo. In October you may need an indoor venue though! Another option is the clubhouse at The Fields apartment complex, it is beautiful and inexpensive. We had our reception at the Neal Marshall Black Cultural Center on the IU campus in the in the Grand Hall. The building in gorgeous and could make for an amazing wedding venue! Hope that is helpful!
Forgot abut the Black Cultural Center! :) That place is super awesome location too. :D We shot a wedding there in 2009. I've enclosed some links below so you can see what the insides look like:
and then we shot one at The Fields this year:
Neil Marshall Black Cultural Center on campus. They offer a virtual tour on line. They have a marvelous banquet room and a small bar/kitchen set up in the lobby. Also Oliver Winery
Forgot-- my daughter's ceremony was in late May outside the Black Cultural Center by the Hoagy statue in the gardens, it was beautiful. The rain option was the mezzanine in the Black Cultural Center. The lobby had the bar, desserts and appetizers. Food was served in the Grand Hall.
Could not ask for a better all in one location. The wedding party walked from the union to the Cultural center, taking photos all the way. It was gorgeous. NO driving, easy access. The union worked with us for good rates. Awesome time.
The Neal-Marshall is fantastic. I've coordinated several events in their grande ballroom. I would suggest calling rather than email though, since they are not usually the quickest to respond. :)
We had our reception at Chapman's and had a great experience. However, I think they may have raised the rates after we had our event.
