We're getting married at the Montdale Country Club but also having our reception there. I'm not sure if they allow just for the ceremony. They have an area surrounded by trees, a gazebo closer to the building and we're using one of the arches closer to the water for our ceremony.
Thanks for the response, dconley80. A country club is probably out of our price range, and we already have a restaurant in mind for the reception. We were thinking one of the public parks, and someone on the street suggested Lake Scranton. We saw a little of McDade Park, Nay Aug Park, and the Iron Furnaces, but we don't know if it's possible or feasible to have a ceremony at any of those. While we love the area, we're not from there and don't know it extremely well.
I personally am not from the area as well but my fiance is. The prices are pretty reasonable at Montdale but we also checked out the Inne of the Abingtons which has a very nice outdoor area and that was even more reasonable. I don't want to post their rates on here because they may not want that but feel free to email you and i'll give you the info they gave me. [email protected]
May I ask what made you decide on Montdale? And is the wedding coordinator there easy to work with? I've talked to the lady twice now and both times I got the vibe that she was annoyed to be dealing with me. We like the place and the price, but working with her to create what we want for our wedding concerns me.
It was the price/location and recommended by a lot of people we know. I don't think she's annoyed but I know where you are coming from with that. From what i've heard she's pretty much a one person show running that place as far as keeping it in line and everything situated so I think sometimes that comes across. We're 5 months from our wedding and there are a few things we've had to go over more than once but if you find vendors that have had weddings there before I think it's much easier because they know how Marie runs everything. feel free to email me if you want any info on who we are using or have any questions.
