Ceremony locations

We have had no trouble finding a reception location here in Charlotte but because we do not belong to a church, we are having trouble finding the ideal place for a ceremony. I have looked at Great Aunt Stella Center and Grace on Brevard. Any other suggestions? Or does anyone know of a church that allows non-members to be married there? Thanks for your help :)

Try St. Patrick's. We live in Boston and we were able to book the cathedral with no problem

I would recommend the Belk Chapel at Queen's University or for a treny alternative the Levine Museum. Both are extremly affordable as well.

Let me know if you need further help, my website link is below!

My husband and I got married in the chapel on the Queens University campus. You do have to find your own minister, but we were able to find one without a problem.

Thank you for the quick responses! We are so bummed about the Belk Chapel - apparently they are renovating in 2011 and won't be having any events there :( That was one of my top choices! St. Mary's is too small for our group - we will have 150 people. I will definitely look into the other suggestions! Thanks and keep em coming :) :)

Another option is the Duke Mansion. Its gorgeous! They do ceremonies only as well....although if you haven't officially booked your reception venue it wld be ideal for both!

Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is beautiful in the spring and they specialize in both ceremony and reception. We have filmed several weddings there and they have turned out absolutely awesome. They can easily accomodate your anticipated guest list of 150. Check them out at www.dsbg.org.

I also have two recommendations for non-denominational officiants. If you would like the info email me at [email protected] Best of luck!!

I love these locations. Magnolia Glen is a private location that can hold up to 500 with a tent for outside protection. It's absolutly gorgeous. You can have wedding and reception there. You can try the Saratiga Springs for wedding and reception, also. If you do choose Magnolia Glen let them know I sent you and let me know, too. :)

We are getting married at a church in Charlotte but our reception is at The Big Chill on Morehead Street. I know that they are able to hold ceremonies as well. It is a very cool old jazz club that has been renovated is now a special events-only venue.

We're having our wedding at St. Peter's Episcopal in June on a Friday night. They charge non-members, but it was more reasonable than any other venue but we wanted to get married in a church (just because we're not members, doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to get married in a church!)Since we don't live in Charlotte and are having a lot of out of town guests, we decided to have the reception in their Parish Hall which is historic and gorgeous as well. They JUST finished renovating the church. It wouldn't hurt to check them out..the price includes 2 people to direct/oversee the day, you can use their minister or someone of your choice, 2 flower arrangements at the front of the church, etc. They also have a catering company they use: la-tea-da's. They have been fabulous to work with.

Amanda - I heard that they are renovating the Belk Chapel in 2011 and they will not be holding events - have you heard this? I have not heard it from the horses mouth but a couple people have said so.

Kelly - at St. Peter's, are you required to use their officiant?

You are not required to use their minister, but of course in NC they have to either be a magistrate or ordained minister in order to perform the ceremony. Let me know if you have other questions. I have an email that La-tea-das sent me that has pictures of the Parish Hall and I'd be happy to send it to you. It was huge that my guests didn't have to leave the ceremony from downtown to another location.

Really, St. Peter's Episcopal in Uptown is newly renovated and gorgeous. You can bring in your own pastor or use theirs. It's expensive though--but needs 0 decoration it's that beautiful. Can hold 250 people I think. I looked EVERWHERE and am very excited about this church!

You might try considering an all-inclusive location like the 1812 Hitching Post in Turnersburg. It is less than an hour from Charlotte and is a gorgeous location for a ceremony and reception! View www.1812hitchingpost.com.
