cheap appetizers - if you have to use a caterer, just have them serve cheese, crackers, and grapes arranged nicely. Ask if you can bring in something that they don't offer (such as pretzels, etc.).
Marsh, or Kroger floral department will work within your budget and won't pressure - they deliver also
Tell me a little bit about your wedding and I can tell some inexpensive appetizers that can compliment your wedding and not look like you threw something together at the last minute. You can email me at [email protected] For the dress alterations go to Alex Tailoring in Castleton across from JCPenny in the strip mall. Tell Sonja that Debra Taylor-Pope sent you! For a florist I have a couple of recommendations but again need to know your style, price and desires.
We are getting married on Halloween this year. We haven't decided between Winchester Place (open catering policy) Conner Prairie (we have to use their caterer) and The Benton House (I'm not sure of there policies yet). We are having a small outdoor ceremony starting at 5:30. We plan to server cake, water, tea, coffee, and hot cider at the reception along with appetizers. I just want to choose an appitizer (or a few) that don't seem as cheap and technnically they will be. I definetely want fresh fruit. Once the reception is over we plan to go out to dinner and just have anyone who wants to tag along come with. We aren't going on a Honeymoon so we'll just have drinks after dinner. We have a 20 month old little girl and are getting our first apartment next month. Right now I'm a stay at home mom and once we move I'm hoping to find part time work. We want something simple, very classic, antique/vintage, with alittle Halloween thrown in. Our colors are Dark purple, black, and ivory. Any other details you want please ask :D
I'm actually doing a wedding at the Benton house for a bride/groom in much like the same position you are. Outside catering is acceptable. They are doing their own appetizers to make it least expensive. You can go to GFS and they have a party planner program that will tell you how much/many you need for your guests. The more guests you have the cost it will be. They have about 30 different choices for apps so you can find pretty much what you want there. Conner Prairie is pretty pricey and can be restrictive. Plus at Halloween, they have a lot of activities going on out there alog with the Headless Horsemen rides. If you want a reasonable florist try Bokay Florist [Angie Kenley] off College Ave or Kathy's Kloset. You may also want to think about making the bulk of your flowers. They are difficult even if you have limited creative skills. Good luck with your planning!
