I had my reception at the Hotel Galvez. They don't charge you for the reception hall, but there is a food and beverage minimum. It depends on the size of your party, but at the cheapest you are looking $5,000 food and beverage minimum. The ceremony fees are nominal (maybe about $200). You can easily get prices e-mailed to you through the Wyndham website for Galvez and Tremont. I had also gotten prices for San Louis, I remember them having many more fees and maybe slightly higher prices. Again, I think it is fairly easy to contact them for prices. The problem you might run into is having the venue past midnight. I think midnight is a typical cut off for most places. And, just to throw it out there, I saw a really pretty ceremony and reception set up at the Moody Mansion. (I had some engagement photos done there.) They also have less rules ie you can bring in your own alcohol. So, you may be able to stay past midnight as well. Hope some of this info helps.
The Roof Garden on the strand is very reasonable and the Harbor House Inn is just 2 blocks away from there so it's definitely within walking distance. You can use outside caterers, and depending on how many guests you are going to have, there is room for the ceremony on the balcony. For a Friday wedding we're paying less than $3000 and that includes linens and clean up. The inside is very pretty and the balcony is great for getting some air after dancing the night away. Their website is roofgardengalveston.com and the owners are so sweet - I am so happy that we found them and such a great place!
