We had our wedding on 10/10/09 at Loulu Palm Estate (www.loulupalmesate.com) and we loved it. They have changed their pricing and vendor requirements a bit but in general we liked it. Kahu Butch Helemano was our officiant he did a great job by incorporating alot of Hawaiian culture into it. We had a people stay at a combination of Turtle Bay and houses on the north shore via www.vrbo.com. North shore beaches are the best. I am sure my wife will ads some comments about it into this thread:)
Don't trust most vendors. Check their reviews on Yelp! or wedding mapper - one person's bad experience is probably not a unique occurance. Just get second opinions and many estimates for comparison - it really felt like most vendors heard "wedding" and "mainland" and saw dollar signs.
We also got married at Loulu Palms - it was beautiful, but we chose it partly because we were told we could make noise late into the night, as neighbors were not a concern - the night of the wedding was a different story, and we had to shut down by 10 or so. Scott (of Loula Palm Estate) recommended a coordinator, Madeleine. I'm not sure if he still recommends her (word is she relocated to SF), but she robbed us of $450 and did nothing. Check reviews - even if you "like" the person who is recommending someone. We also rented vacation rentals as stated above - perfect arrangement! Nick Pugay - awesome photographer, but if you want specific family shots let him know, otherwise he'll focus primarily on artsy shots of the two of you. Tony So the DJ was great as well - he really helped coordinate and MC the evening's events. These two vendors were wonderfully professional. DO NOT USE HEAVENLY SWEETS BY L.A. - Allison Galdeira and Luanna something. See Yelp! for reviews - they were awful, unprofessional, and trying to rip us off on everything from the bamboo arch to the "conch blower" they located for us, and did not present us with an invoice until the day of the wedding, despite numerous requests. And we saw why immediately - they added a $200 coordination fee that we never agreed to (to name just one error on it). We used Indigo catering - guests raved about the food, servers were friendly, and Chef Greg Johnson was helpful with guiding food selections and providing service people, and so on. Though he originally took over a month to get back to us with an estimate - though that was true of most caterers we spoke to.
