My son and daughter in law were married in Cancun but we held a huge party in South Haven since there were persons who could not go. If you are having an inside reception choose a place that has an area where you can also have a ceremony if weather does not cooperate. If its raining in So Haven it will be windy and a tent doesn't usually withstand that. Lake Bluff Hotel has a gazebo. As a sidenote my friend got married at Meijer Frederick Gardens in Grand Rapis in Nov., inside , at sunset with huge windows and lots of flowers and it was very inexpensive for 40 guests. They had a sit down dinner, dancing etc. and she arranged it in 3 weeks! Outside weddings anywhere are a little dicey.:) Hopefully South Haven will be warm and sunny!
I tossed around the idea of having a beach wedding too. My back up was going to be the reception site. You can push the head table back a bit and have the guest chairs turned around at the tables they can see. Or if you don't want to move the head table you could use the dance floor/area and just move the family chairs so they're in their proper places. Creating an aisle might be a bit tricky but it could work!
