Hi Melissa,
My husband I got married in Lancaster in August of 2008. We got married at the First Presbyterian Church which was great, the Pastor there is awesome. We live in Columbus so we didn't want to become members of their church in Lancaster and he was okay with that. We had our reception at the Elks Lodge which has a very beautiful old ballroom. We used the Floral Design Gallery for our flowers and they were wonderful. I am from Columbus, OH so I got my dress here and other decorations. My mother in law made our cake so I don't have any references for you on that. We had a friend who was our photographer. We used a DJ from Columbus but he was really good. The church and the reception were located so close together that we just walked so we didn't really deal with transportation. Also, we stayed at Shaw's Inn which was also extremely close to the reception hall so we didn't need transportation their either. That place has really nice suites with jacuzzi tubs, etc. Let me know if you need help on anything else.

Hi Megan,

I've done weddings and receptions at Cheers Chalet. There are two buildings one called Cheers and the other Lakeside. Both are nice facilities and the food is very good. You can have your wedding and reception there. I've also been the DJ for wedding receptions at the Elks downtown, Shaw's, the Eagles, VFW, and a couple of other locations. Depending on what you want to do will determine the type of venue you need.

If you stay in the Lancaster area for other services your choices will be limited. I'm not sure they even have a limo service in town.

Cake is easy. Golden Delight in Columbus and Gahanna. If you want something different this is it. It looks like a wedding cake but the icing is whipped cream and the cake is fantastic. I've had 7 brides choose this cake and all the guests loved it.

Photographers can easily be found with a GOOGLE search. I've worked with many of the Columbus photographers and those from the Lancaster area. It all depends on what you want and what fits your budget. Prices go from $500 and up...and I mean UP!

I think there are 6 or 7 florists in the Lancaster area. I've heard that some brides are getting flowers from the floral shops in local grocery stores.

If you are renting a facility and need to supply all your own tables, chairs, tableware, etc. then Personal Touch Party Rentals is where you want to go.

I'm glad to answer any questions you have. Being a DJ gives me an interesting view of weddings and receptions from the expensive and elaborate to simple hillside weddings in the Hocking Hills.

It would help if we knew more about what you would like your wedding day and celebration to be. Write down what you want AND what you DON'T want. That's a great start. Email me if you like. Again, glad to help.

Hi My daughter used Amy Rebecca Photography she is reasonable and is a lot of fun.

I thought I saw a church in the Lancaster Paper you could rent for a wedding but I will research.

Wedding dresses go to Reading which is outside of Cincinnati their is one street but nothing but wedding stores. My daughter bought her dress at Cincinnati Bridal And Formal it did take 8 months price and their were dress you could buy from the rack Highly recommend.

Wedding invitations I would recommend making them yourself or going to Office Max for printing My daughter got into a big mess with a person not in Lancaster who was trying to take us to cleaners.

Cake their is Michelle Sauer in Gahanna who makes good cake she did our grooms cake as no one in Lancaster could make the cake we wanted. You can check her website Sauer Cakes. Where are you have the reception may know of a bakery also.

You are right on the weather it rained the day of my daughters wedding.

I hope this helps and I have a lot more I could add but if you want to e mail personal I would be glad to help I love weddings

My son got married in Lancaster, Ohio because his wife and her family is from Lancaster. The wedding was at the First Presbyterian Church on North Broad Street. I thought it was beautiful. The interior has a fairly neutral color scheme so decorating was easy. They were on a limited budget. I found alot of ways to save. I ordered stationary and printed the invitations and wedding programs myself. (Make sure you have the proper template setting for your printer) Punched holes in the invitations and programs, knotted and tied in sheer ribbon and simple bows, added tinted tissue sheets. I also ordered large pillar candles for the reception tables and decorated with wide ribbons and set on mirror ovals and sprinkled the tables with confetti in the wedding party colors. Lots of ways to save if you don't mind a little extra work and an eye for details. That's the key to making everything look like it was done professionally. Good Luck.
