Hello Jaclyn & Casey,
I can't be sure about all the details you are inquiring about, but the park probably has some sort of fee and you'd have to contact the park directly for that... State and National parks usually have some fee, but normally not too much in comparison to a church or hotel.
As far as I know, They don't really have any vendor packages either... and I've only worked that area from listings and referrals from Wedding Mapper and Google.
However, please visit our site if you are interested in our services! www.AboutTheDay.com. We'd love to help!
I think only if you need an officiant. Of you are having a small wedding might not b an issue. If you. Are having a large wedding, you might want to call the park and recreation.
A permit is required to get married on the beach but there is no cost unless you have more than 100(?) guest. You need to contact Folly Beach County Park. They are very helpful. They have a wonderful shelter (Pelican Watch) with bathrooms, oyster pit, horseshoes, etc. but it is a little pricey. The only problem we had was with the parking. I think from November through March there is no fee but during the peak season the cost is $7 per car. You can buy passes in advance but you have to get them to your guest before they get to the gate. We purchased passes but did not see some of our guest before the ceremony therefore they had to pay for their parking. We would suggest getting married in the morning. Our wedding was at 5:30 pm and the beach was crowded. The park closes at 7 pm. If you have the shelter you can stay until 11 pm. All in all it was a wonderful ceremony and the pictures are great! Good Luck!
thanks that was helpful. I want a simple wedding and the thing I want the most is a photographer. i am from Ohio and am only having my wedding at folly and a reception in ohio. Do you have any suggestions for me? I just dont need a huge package.
We might be able to help, depending on what you're date and budget are? Hopefully, without imposing on you... I'd like to mention that we specialize in destination wedding photography and "out of the way" and "multiple locations" are part of what we do! (It's just FYI, but our website addresses things I believe you are wanting to know... ie: Prices, Packages, stuff about us... and of course galleries and galleries of our work from all over the world.) Also, we're not a big company that refers or hires other photographers to cover your date(s). It's just me (Stephen) and my wife (Sonia)... and we'd be happy to take a call anytime too! Hopefully we're what you are looking for?! :) www.AboutTheDay.com
March is a great time at Folly Beach. We were there to check things out before our wedding and there was no one on the beach. It is a little chilly. The picture is when we were there in March. I would call Folly Beach County Park and get the permit first (no charge). Go to www.acharlestonbeachwedding and check out their packages. We spoke with them and they are very nice. We didn't use them only because we were bringing our own officient and photographer. Congratulations!
does anyone know if you can bring a tent out to the beach for after the wedding and host a reception?
I am pretty sure that is permissable but you should check with the county park to make sure. We set up a small arbor for our ceremony (photo). I know there is a fee if you plan to have more than 100 guest and if you plan to serve alcohol. The park staff is very helpful. Congratulations!
We got married on Folly Beach last year. Like the last couple we use a small arbor for our ceremony. A few chairs as well. I'm not sure what the fees would be if you use their covered area or anything like that. the staff was great. We use Chi Photography http://ChildCreations.com as well as Yoj events in case you are in need of a photographer or event planner. Congratulation and you'll love the Folly Beach!!!
HI I have chi planned to do my wedding in March. How did you like her and the pictures?
did you make the arbor in your picture or did you rent or buy it? Ive been looking for something like it.
what was the date you got married in march and how was the weather our wedding is the 30th of march and I'm starting to get worried its going to be cold.
Hi. She was great and easy to work with. We met with a few other photographers in the area and we felt the most comfortable with her. You never know sometimes, but thankfully our gut feeling turned out to be right. Pictures were great and she was real good about makes some color adjustments that we wanted. More black and white stuff. So, you made a great choice and i'm sure you'll be happy as we were.
We got married March 28th and it was perfect weather. Ended up being in the 60's which wasn't too bad. Water was a little chilly, but we really didn't go any further than ankle deep anyway. It's usually in the 60's in March. I guess you never know, but you wouldn't want to do it in June or July even on the beach. It's sticky and hot and I would never recommend even May.
We ended up making ours a family friend put it together. Not sure where you could find one for sale.
My dad made an altar and it is 8ft tall Im looking to get fabric to decorate it how much did you use?
Mom bought a bolt of material, not sure how much was on it. She just wanted to make sure we had plenty.Sorry I cant be any more help.
I was/am planning my wedding to be on Folly Beach. I spoke with several people in the parks department and a Folly officiant lady. Some major information I got was, you cannot have a tent larger than 10x10 set up. You cant block off an area, no open flames (no candles with a hurricane or some kind of enclosure) and if your ceremony is on the beach and is going to be have more than 25 people you need a "party permit" but thats free. You also cannot have a "reception" on the beach. Once the ceremony concludes you have to immediately clean up chairs/decor/etc. and obviously there are fines if you disturb the dunes or any turtles nests. I'm going back and forth with having a beach wedding vs a traditional church wedding so I'm trying to get as much info on both!
HI I just had my wedding on the beach by the light house it was perfect simple but perfect. If you have any specific questions just let me know. But for your flowers defiantly dont go with Pedals by Pamela. She was supposed to get me hand dyed blue roses that she spray painted, you are not supposed to spray paint roses. I also ordered orange roses and she got bright pink flowers. She didnt help with finding me orange ones and wouldnt refund our money. Luckily I have a great family who found me orange ones. Let me know if you have any questions. good luck
I've heard some bad reviews on Pedals by Pamela. So, yours is just another bad experience. I have a friend who's getting married early next year and i'll let them know to avoid. How were you other vendors and of course how was the weather?
Well I sure wish I would of heard the bad reviews. The weather was perfect close to 70 and sunny. Chi Photography in Charlotte was wonderful.I brought my own Reverend and the cake was by molly at dlish.
I am glad Ive steered at least someone away from her.
