I am trying to put together a small beach front wedding in Aug. There will only be about 20 people attending. I was looking at Carmel but it was too difficult to arrange. Just looking for any advice on location and reception ideas that are low cost. Thanks for your help!

Hello! I'm having my wedding on the sand of Avila Beach and the party to follow at the little park right there. I had to get a permit from the San Luis Obispo parks and recreation for the beach but the park is first come basis. So we have to get there early to reserve the party space. I'm doing everything from decors to food myself or with help from family. We expect about 50 people. It's turning out to be a nice but cheap wedding! Hope that helps.

First off, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Avila Beach is a GREAT place to get married. It has a little of the Carmel feel. I am from Northern California, lived in Capitola when I got married, and visit Monterey and Carmel as much as I can. I think you will LOVE Avila. There are a few places you can look into there, depending on how formal and informal you want to be.

I really wanted to get married with "my feet" in the sand. Our wedding was a larger scale (260 guests), but it will work well with 20 guests, as long as you are okay with the "public" watching. But I will say everyone was very respectful and it added to the fun.

There are a couple places I would recommend for your reception, if you would like, check into the Old Custom House , they have a super swanky banquet room. We looked into this for our rehearsal dinner, but for cost savings opted for the Avila Beach Community Center... which is a great place also. For this, contact Laura the Manager of the Avila La Fonda, which is SOOOO CUTE, and YOU should definitely stay there. My husband and I are going back every year for our anniversary :). You can bring everything in to the community center. It's very charming, and a short walk from the beach. Hope this all helps!

Let me know if you would like any more information.

Cheers,
Joey

What park are you planning your wedding at? We are wanting a small/simple beach wedding in April or May. I don't want us to be spending a lot, I don't want to blow money on one day. lol, I know it's worth it. Thanks.

Planning a wedding in Avlia Beach is a great choice. Old Port Inn is a good place. People think you have to spend alot on weddings but you do not. Keep It simple and make it all about you and the one you love.....
