I'll be more than happy to rate the services and provide precise details on my turnout . One thing I will admit to ... Destination weddings are very difficult to plan and your budget will be exceeded as not everything is what it may seem. Biggest advice thus far : keep a paper trail ON ALL CONVERSATIONS , PRICES ON EXACT PRODUCT WITH DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS AND PHOTOS.

So ...May 18th wedding in Old San Juan has definitely left us with puzzled reviews on vendors. El Convento hotel would not be my choice AT ALL unless you have a real wedding planner not affiliated with the hotel. Our wedding / coordinator planner from the hotel bailed out the late at 3:30 pm the day before the wedding. She left it up to another person who also failed to show up and help the day of.it was left to then a last minute last coordinator who tried to just go with the flow as situations presented themselves. It was literally a disaster in my eyes and I just wanted to cry . It actually felt as if it were the first wedding ever done there by them. My guests were rushed from the patio during the cocktail hour to the reception room to just water at the tables.Shortly after they passed bread. So , bread and water. So we ask WHAT IS GOING ON???? I had to leave my brides chair so many times to try and fix things . So then THEY ask : "0h , want wine or drinks "? So , that took some time . Eventually ,food items were served . Cold , but served. I highly suggest that the items selected be taste tested before you make a final choice. My lesson learned . While all this was taking place it would have been great to had posed to cut the cake. But , again, I didn't have a person to help me with this matter at all. We had a dance presentation after our dinner at the outside patio . The cake was never touched. At that point many of my guests had left and said their goodbyes. I asked if we could please cut the cake and serve it. The response was : Oh ,no one cares ever for the cake. My husband and I took so much pride in finally selecting what we wished OUR cake would be like. It was a big part of all our planning. There was nothing at the table placed to cut the cake with. The remaining guests who were so nice enough to go back into the reception room just to watch us cut the cake just watched us the bride and groom try to entertain however possible until the catering service brought in a very long knife if some sort that was so embarrassing to cut the cake for picture posing. But that was all that was offered .and yes, our initial wedding planner had confirmed this WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE.

Festivo flower decorators had to rush and setup that SAME DAY early afternoon. At about two hours before the ceremony the bouquet was NO WHERE to be found. Then, finally. Little decor details we wanted to add were rushed to be placed by the bridesmaids as only then was the reception room available to do such ..This caused me to not be able to put on my wedding dress as details for the wedding were not yet finalized. One of our biggest wishes were to have pictures taken outside at El Morro ... We couldn't .
The TABLE decor by Festivo I must say was BREATHTAKING. Expensive ,but worth the view. It helped to provide them with picture of table settings that closely resembled our wishes..You WON'T be disappointed on their amazing arrangements. Just make sure your wedding planner allows FESTIVO to set up within a respectable time frame so that you can review what may need to be addressed even on THAT day . My suggestion to FESTIVO : CONTACT the wedding planner before YOU leave premises to ensure all is what the BRIDE AND GROOM paid for. My chair covers were not done and luckily the hotel provided substitute chairs for the ceremony at the gazebo at El Convento . Guests maybe didn't mind , but I DID .

C+M cakes are a the most amazing artists in cake confection. Yes, it was a masterpiece.
Violines de San Juan played at the ceremony ,cocktail hour and my two hour reception . Dan is an AMAZING maestro . He played songs we requested so beautifully. His expertise will sweep you and your guests off your feet. Allow him to play things from his repertoire . You both will be pleasantly pleased.

Due to our terrible experience the day of our wedding we will have to go back again to the island and make EVERYTHING appear as if it were THAT day just to have some of our dream pictures at destination sites throughout San Juan . Raymond is extremely accommodating and eager to please. We will gladly go back just to relive our wedding day and I am sure he will make it special for us. Can't wait to see so e photo proofs . After so much stress I became ill two days after the wedding and we had to postpone picture makeovers with Raymond .
If you truly desire to capture the flavor of a real puertorican culture and wedding you MUST have the AREYTO folkloric dance group perform. Our family from the island and our guests from Chicago just can't stop commenting on how dreamlike it was to see their performance. They included time and special songs for David and I as well as music for everyone to dance to also. Estela Ortiz is the director of the dance group, an amazing woman ,amazing. Areyto,we love you.

My negative experience with the coordinators there can be broken down into several factors. The biggest perhaps that we don't live on the island. Although we tried to immunization via phone and email ,it wasn't enough. Regardless, they bailed out.not just one but two of them. Why? I ask myself til this day. Regardless, hire your own REAL wedding planner not affiliated with El Convento . Good luck with your plans :)
