Check out the Norrh Texas Fairgrounds Fair Hall. It's casual, but cheap (550 for 24 hours). Also look at the Denton Womens Center behind the Civic Center, also 550 for 3 hours. Good luck!
Highly recommend the Denton Women's Club Building "historical" land mark - email address for Susan Wright is - [email protected] - the room will definitely hold 100+ people comfortably and the 50 you anticipate easily. They have a full kitchen, dinnerware, drinkware, baby grand piano etc.. We had a GREAT experience working with them. If you are in need of a DJ - SoundMasters DJ Entertainment- Mike McCandless

We looked high and low and different venue's, dj's etc.. and would do everything the same way all over again. Everyone was professional, workable and GREAT! Also have a recommendation for flowers if you need that.
Good luck and should you decide to use either of these businesses, please feel free to mention our names - Alyssa King Baker and Susan King (my mom).
The Women's club has a website that you can go to that will allow you to see inside and outside. What may be "cheesy" to some may be nice to others. The other venue's this person mentioned do charge a handsome price for their services - just FYI - had the rehearsal dinner at Heritage - not really a reception/visiting type place and not really enough room for 50 comfortably - but I definitely am not bashing the place.
We have a great reception facility in Lewisville. Perfect for a group of 50 guests. If our normal package is out of your price range, I'll work with you the best I can on a custom package, or I've got suggestions for other facilities in Lewisville that might work for you. Have you tried Freemeax's Metropolitan Catering? They are located on University Dr. in Denton, close to the Movie Tavern. Also the TWU Women's Bldg.(mentioned above) is very nice.
Hannah's has a great patio outside.......I think it'll seat 50, although I'm not sure of the price (we almost did our rehearsal dinner there). There are also several bed and breakfasts in Denton that you can google and use space there..... TWU has a nice room in Hubbard Hall. We ended up having ours at Denton Country Club.
Let me know if you need a great DJ or florist!! CandyHaven is also the best for a cake :)
