I had two photographers. There were numerous reasons why I went with two. I wanted to make sure I got my husbands first look at me on camera as well as me walking down the isle. I Also wanted to have pictures of me getting ready as well as my husband getting ready. I managed to find a good deal for two photographers and was so happy I had two. I think it all really depends on what you want to capture. I figured photos were all you had after your special day. I didn't want to cheap out on ylthose as to me they were one of the most important things. Good luck on your search!

A good photographer is able to anticipate what is about to happen. This only comes with experience as a wedding photographer. There are many "photographers" out there who are NOT professional wedding photographers and thus two photographers are required to capture all the important shots. Remember, you also will be providing meals for your service providers so that's an extra cost. Get referrals to ensure photographer is indeed a professional Wedding photographer and doesn't just have a great website. I guess it's just my own preference but I wanted two. I just wanted to ensure everything was captured...one photographer or two...there are no reruns lol. I got over 650 photos and they are all different. So happy with my decision!

I had also had 2 photographers, but initially I had 1.5.
Long story short, the initial company we were going to book we couldn’t as it was their sibling’s wedding the same weekend as ours. What they were going to do, was have one photographer the entire day capturing: bride get ready, departure/arrival, groom’s arrival, the ceremony & the rest. Meanwhile, the second photographer only went to the groom’s side to capture them getting ready & the groom’s departure & nothing more.
Since we didn’t go with them, we chose the photography team that worked with the videography company we hired. For us both photo & video were important. Booking both services with Realistically Fictional Productions allowed us to have two videographers & two photographers & a better rate. We also did not have an album or anything like, focused on having the images captured as an album could be created later.
So it will come down to your preference & budget. A tip my friend told me, when reviewing samples make sure you see the wedding from beginning to end. Because then you will get a true idea of what their photography is like. It’s easy to show the 10 best images from every wedding/client. Which isn’t a true representation of their work. And be sure to check blogs, they sometimes give better idea of the photo style & let you learn more about the photographers too…plus it’s their most recent work too.

My husband and I work together as photographers on the wedding day to get two unique viewpoints during the day. I would be devastated if I missed the first kiss due to a guest walking in front of the camera, or camera failure, etc. It is very assuring for us to know that we both are getting great photos all day, and if someone misses a moment, the other got it.
The great thing with our set up, is that Mike has a unique style from mine. His photos from the same moments throughout the day are totally different then mine! We feed off each others energy, and we have so much fun tag teaming wedding photos! He focuses on the guys throughout the day and knows how to get them comfortable in front of the camera, and I naturally LOVE the girlyness that surround the wedding day and I know just how important it is to get those beautiful shots and silly moments with the girls.
I would certainly recommend a second photographer. Different perspectives, coverage of the guys/girls getting ready in the morning and also for the comfort of having a female and male leading your photo time.

What a lot of people don't realize is that having two photographers isn't about getting more images but more points of view. Even the most tallented professionals can't be in two places at once. As with most things, two is better than one.
When I was working as an assistant photographer, the studio I worked for did NOT charge more for the second shooter. If you are having a hard time finding someone willing to bring an assistant for the price of one, try negotiating them down or ask if it would be ok to bring in a second photographer that isn't affiliated with them. Craigslist is a great place to find some talented photographers just starting out with LOW prices so that they can build a portfolio. Just be sure that you like their work, don't forgo quality for price!

try looking into someone to film your wedding. we have decided to go with tetra films. They seem to be amazing people. Great to talk with and have lots of amazing ideas for our wedding. They also have a connection with a photographer and he will provide still pictures for the wedding. We are super excited to see the final project. We hear they are amazing.

I am a photographer and strongly believe in having two photographers at a wedding. The reason for this is because, as a few people have mentioned above, one person cannot be in two places at the same time. Naturally a primary photographer will spend the bulk of their time with the bride on the morning of the wedding, but does this make the groom's morning any less important in the story of your day? Without a second photographer the groom does not make an appearance in the wedding album until the ceremony starts. I believe in order to tell the entire story of the day from both the bride's and the groom's perspective you need two photographers. It isn't about "safety in numbers" it is about capturing the whole story.
And remember, other than your love, photography is the only part of your wedding day that will last forever, so I encourage you to select your photographer based on quality, passion and style, not exclusively on price. In doing so, you will guarantee the creation of wedding photographs that will have lasting impact and give you many years of enjoyment.

One photographer or two photographers is a great way to get a better snake io shot of your event or product. You can have one person take photos of the event and one person take photos of the product. This way, you can get a better look at both sides of the product. If you have two photographers, you can have them take photos from different angles and still get a good shot.
