We were married before our actual wedding date. My mother was terminally ill with cancer and wanted to see me walk down the aisel. We pulled things together in a rush and were married 5 days before she died. Diamond Lake church in Minneapolis was extremely accommodating and was very beautifully decorated. It as a very informal, but beautiful ceremony. The reception was held 6 months later. I had hoped it would be a happy day after my wedding day, which was so sad. Unfortunately, I was left embarrassed by the poor performance of the Embassy Suites.
The Embassy Suites had a very non-chalant attitude about my reception. They got many things wrong and information and guidance from them was sparse. They disregarded my schedule of events completely, beginning the bar at the wrong time and pestering me all night wondering what was to come next. They forgot to order the fresh flowers, so there were no centerpieces. They forgot the wedding cake. They brought out a sheet cake that had already been cut, so we were deprived our cake cutting ceremony. After the event it took more than a week to actually speak with someone, who was rude and tried to blame it all on me. I had to quote directly from saved emails for them to actually admit to the things they'd neglected. They reluctantly refunded my money for the flowers and the cake, no more, no less. All that amd they set the room for too many people. It was awful.
