We had the best wedding day we could have ever asked for and more! We were lucky to find some wonderful vendors that were able to personalize our wedding to our style and make it into everything we envisioned it to be. We were also glad to have the Wedding Mapper as a convenient and user-friendly tool to help us organize/orient ourselves and our guests.
I went to this vendor after reading some reviews that were mixed, but I figured since I didn't need any complicated alterations on my wedding dress, I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg at some bridal boutique store. The service was friendly and the price was a little more than what I thought the alterations were worth, but if they did a decent job, I felt like it was worth it. Well, on my wedding day just after dinner at the reception, my bustle didn't hold up because the weight of the dress was too much for the one loop they sewed on. Also, they said they would steam press my dress, but when I picked up my dress, it looked exactly the same as when I had dropped it off and they told me that they steamed it, but because of the nature of the material, the dress had re-wrinkled in the garment bag and that I would have to steam it again right before the ceremony. However, then they decided to charge me anyway for a job that I honestly don't think they actually did. Kind to think of it, I really should have given them 2 stars. I think they may do other alterations well, but I wouldn't recommend getting your wedding dress altered there.
Great venue, great food, and great service! It was the perfect place for us to get married and Jessica and her assistant Diana were so easy and wonderful to work with. They really made it so I didn't have to worry about anything, and I could just sit back and enjoy our wedding day. The only thing I would advise is to request a doggie bag for food to go because it was delicious, but I didn't really get a chance to eat most of it.
Style Matters was awesome - they have a few DJ's on board and we had Duke. He was quite the crowd pleaser and we got so many compliments about the great music. The only thing that was slightly irritating was that we had given them a list of the names to be announced at the reception, but they must have misplaced it because they had to ask one of the bridesmaids for the names at the last minute just before we walked in, and they messed up my dad's name. I still gave them 5 stars though because everything else went so smoothly. I'd definitely recommend them if you are looking for a DJ that isn't going to be a carbon copy of all the other wedding DJ's out there.
The Garden area was filled with flowers in August when we had our wedding, and they had tiki torches lit, so really didn't have to do anything to dress up the outdoor space. The pictures looked like we were in a tropical location instead of Chicago, IL.
The atrium was very elegant and classy. There was a full-length bar and large paper lanterns hanging from the beams of the high ceiling that were an extra added bonus of decor. Again, I didn't feel like we had to do much to dress this room up for the reception. It was a large enough space for our guests, but small enough to make it more intimate, and having the doors open up into the garden area was a really nice option for out guests to wander.
This hotel is located in the heart of shopping and tourist attractions, so it was great for our family guests. The rooms were spacious and we were able to get a decent deal for several suites compared to other comparable hotels in Chicago.
The staff at Crowne Plaza were very easy to work with and flexible. It was the best deal we could find for our guests, and the location was still close to a lot of things that our guests could enjoy. The rooms were impressive in decor and cleanliness.
