We had a wonderful wedding at the Sioux City Art Center. It was a beautiful venue, and we throughly enjoyed ourselves. Our reception site was not up to par, but overall, the day was wonderful because we were able to enjoy it with our friends and family.
Jim is an excellent DJ. He has a great selection of music (over 26,000 songs) and he was very easy to work with. He got the crowd involved, but didn't overwhelm the guests at any time.
While this is a cheap(er) place to have a reception, I do not recommend using this venue. We booked it because we were told by the wedding coordinator that they were going to be redecorating before our wedding, and if they couldn't, they would "at the very least stretch the carpet so that no one would keep tripping on it." Neither of those happened, and people were hurt. We also used their punch for our cocktail hour, and our guests didn't have any cupsuntil we got there right before dinner was to start. So of this expensive punch, only 1/3 of it was used. The manager on duty the day of the wedding was clueless to anything with the wedding, and the employees had a very hard time communicating with each other. A word of advice to any person planning a wedding-- always get anything and every little thing in writing, even if it seems trivial. Because if you're trusting like we are, you'll end up with something wrong and get stuck with paying extra for it. Our coordinator seemed knowledgeable and friendly, but dealing with this in the aftermath has been a nightmare.
