Best day ever! Our families are both from out of town, so we considered getting married up in the Bay Area, but since we're both in San Diego, it just made sense for us to stay local. Especially, since I had my heart set on getting married at the Mission Basilica de Alcala. We had a lot of people from out of town, and from what I've heard, all had a great time and used the wedding as an excuse to go to Sea World or the Zoo (or even Disneyland). Thankfully, there weren't any huge competing events in town, so that kept our hotel prices in the normal range.
I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. This is the most beautiful church to me. I love how old it is and how much charm it has. A church is nothing without community though. Everyone we came in contact with at that church was great. Very kind and helpful. Beautiful!!!
For the price, it was fine. Not my first choice, but glad we went there. It was available, in budget, and relatively close to the Mission. Also, we could bring in our own alcohol. Big plus!
Nice property, going through renovation while we were there. If you're spending your honeymoon night, have someone check you in early in the day. We got there late and got a room in the "old" part of the hotel. Not ideal, but it was fine.
