Our wedding was a perfect mix of elegant and casual, and I know our guests had as much fun celebrating our special day as we did. We had exceptional vendors: Californos for the wedding/reception, Sito Colon for photography AND DJing (yes, he does both!), and Andrea Adams Britt at Classic Cakes for our delicious, all-natural cake.
We found Californos because friends of ours had been married there and raved about how great it was, and they were right. We had an incredible experience at Californos. We held our ceremony there on their beautiful, multi-level deck, and then moved inside for dinner and dancing. With high ceilings, hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and tablecloths and flatware provided, we barely had to decorate the space at all--it's beautiful as is. The food was incredible--we're still getting compliments. Aaron Burns, the wedding coordinator there, made us so comfortable. He was happy to be flexible and make our day perfect. He was also did a wonderful job communicating with our vendors and coordinating the set-up. We were in great hands--I cannot recommend this venue highly enough.
UNBEATABLE PRICE AND SERVICE. (And he was our photographer, too!)We're total music snobs, and we wanted to provide our own music for a large portion of the reception. Many DJs we contacted were insulted at this request and suggested we "leave our music in the hands of the professionals." That works for some couples, but music is an important part of our lives, and we wanted our favorite songs to be a feature of our special day. Sito did a wonderful job of incorporating our music selections with his substantial library, and he really had a good instinct for which songs would keep the dance floor moving. We had a great party, and everybody stayed all night and danced thanks to Sito.
The right price, all natural ingredients, and an amazing assortment of flavors--we had a different flavor for every layer! Most bakers showed us the usual vanilla/chocolate/strawberry cakes, laden with too much sugar. Andrea's cakes were different: delicious and earthy-tasting, with all-natural ingredients. She's an exceptional chef, and an outstanding cake decorator, too. She wowed us at our cake tasting by loading up our forks for us with every imaginable flavor combination of cake and filler (there must have been at least 50 flavors--probably more). With so many great flavor choices, we couldn't decide--so we had five flavors! We loved Andrea, and we loved our cake!
We had John do just our boutonniers and corsages (we made our own bouquets and centerpieces), and he gave us hip, beautiful flower arrangements. And his prices are outstanding--he helped us select beautiful, inexpensive flowers, and he managed to make them look high-end and gorgeous.
