Our wedding went beautifully. May 1st was a wonderful date because it wasn't too hot or cold outside. It happened to be sunny this day as well and all of the trees had leaves and the Red Haw State Park was a beautiful place to get pictures taken of my husband and I.
The ceremony went well and the reception was a blast. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend! It was everything I had dreamed of and more.
Parms Porta Party was great! Our DJ Aaron was very helpful! Before he announced us he double checked that he had everyone's name right and the order we were going to be announced in. My husband and I were going to enter special and Aaron made that work out really well.
He also helped out our ushers and served the head table wine to help things move along.
The dance floor was moving all night. These guys will really work with you and get you the type of music that you want while still keeping everyone satisfied.
The church was great! It's large enough for bigger crowds and is especially great for summer wedding because it is air conditioned. They also had a lot of decorations already so we only needed to rent few things. They don't have typical pews and have padded chairs that connect to each other so you could rearrange if needed (which gave the photographer some freedom while taking pictures). The congregation is really nice and helped out wherever they could. One more thing to add. They have a great sound guy and sound system so you have some freedom there to creat your own ceremony music CD.
Where to begin with this outstanding venue? Thelma the caterer and director of the hall and the staff are amazing. We had a buffet style dinner which worked out really nice. All of the food was amazing. We had roast beef, fried chicken, broccoli salad, her signature (amazing) jello dessert, a pinapple hors d'oeuvres tree, a punch fountain, heart shaped bread, and party potatoes just to name a few things we had available.
They helped out with the decorations as well. They had the tables set up and table clothes for us to set up. They had a lot of things available to use to decorate so you didn't have to spend all of your money on renting or buying decorations that you'd use once.
We were able to hold the rehearsal dinner down in the side building and then use the building the next day to open presents which turned out to be really useful. The side building was also where the wedding party could gather before we were announce and they had some beverages and food waiting for us compliments of the hall.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The only thing that I would say isn't fantastic is the fact that you can't bring in your own alcohol. However, it's some sort of law or code that doesn't allow it,the hall has to enforce it. She can order in almost anything you'd want to serve though.
To start off this is only 1 of the two hotels available in Chariton. It isn't a big fancy chain and doesn't have the best of ammenities. But it does work out nice if you have a lot of people staying there because you can just open your door and see who's out and hop between rooms because the rooms open up directly to the outside.
We chose Royal Rest because they were willing to negotiate a lowered rate for all of our guests.
Their contintental breakfast isn't anything fancy but there is a BP gas station just down the street and a chinese restaurant close as well for lunch.
The managers of this hotel were not willing to negotiate a lowered price for the me or my 20 guests that needed rooms... They told me that they do not offer discounts from May to August or some other bull like that.
This just seems ridiculous because Chariton is a small town and we would be bringing in a lot of business that they would have not otherwise gotten. I was a little disgusted with the lack of service that we got over the phone.
We were originally going to go with this hotel but because of their lack of courtesy and lack of business skill they lost our business and hundreds of dollars because of their unwillingness to work with us.
