our wedding was better than expected. i think this has to do with a few factors: 1) i was very realistic and remembered the advice that things don't always turn out as planned, which made the day better when it did. 2) the people you invite make can make or break the vibe of the wedding. 3) open bar is worth every penny.
if i could do anything different, i would have chosen to solely find my photographer and work with him instead of the company that backed him. other than that, i would have done the same! it was truly a great day!
i really wanted a photo booth, mostly because i didn't want a typical guestbook, i wanted to see the people we invited and their sweet notes to us. during the reception, they were great. but they were late and the technician took down the photo booth a little earlier than we expected.
we opted for cupcakes instead of cakes ($3.75 v $10/piece). i go to kara's whenever i get a hankering and didn't need a taste test. i enjoyed offering 4 different flavors and something people can take home as an additional favor. my sister-in-law actually paid for these for us as a wedding gift and it was perfect. she rented the tier platters and picked them up and arranged them before the wedding.
our dj was actually part of our package at crystal springs and he did not let down. he really pays attention to the crowd and gauges what he needs to do to keep the mood up. he also looked to me for any signs or direction and was, overall, a great person.
our floral designer was very good at understanding what i was envisioning. unlike other florists i met with, she didn't impose her vision. everything was ready before we got to the site and it was beautiful!
i originally really wanted to do letterpress, but couldn't afford it in the end. so, i opted for digitally printed ones and they turned out great. the process was pretty easy and i definitely recommend them for budget cautious couples.
the photographer they matched us with was great and fabulous and would receive 5 stars on his own, but the company has been a little difficult. i honestly wished i did more research. bella takes a lot of work and if you can't work on them to get what you're looking for, i recommend looking elsewhere.
the reception site was also at the golf course and i really wanted to keep these two events at the same locale for my guests. honestly, i fell in love with the ceremony site and was so-so with the reception area, but after we added our elements, it was truly transformed. our only issue was that the staff numbered our tables a little incorrectly, which put my bridesmaid table out of sight. but, all in all, it was a fun party.
we chose crystal springs golf course in burlingame, ca. the day couldn't have been any better. a couple days before the wedding, we had our rehearsal here and it happened to be the windiest day, up to 22 mph winds. so, i was a little nervous, but the clear skies and the calm air made the day perfect.
