I am absolutely thrilled that my husband and I picked Barnyard Photography to photograph our wedding. Not only do we have absolutely gorgeous photographs - and in record time, especially compared to other photographers - but we made a friend in Ben Yanis, the owner of Barnyard Photography. Ben is a wonderful, funny, friendly person who we clicked with immediately. We didn't feel like we were hiring some stranger - after one meeting/"interview", we walked away absolutely sure that we would book Barnyard because we were so happy with Ben and his work. He took a lot of time with us to show us his work studio, his previous work, the photo editing process, etc. He even showed us the work he does with Field of Screams in Mountville, PA, where he even managed to take "gorgeous" pictures of horrific scenes!
Throughout the planning process, Ben was very communicative, and truly went above and beyond, offering us all kinds of advice about the wedding beyond just photography, most of which we hadn't even thought of. He was generous with his time, as well as with his ideas and experience - and he has a lot of both!
We hired two photographers for the wedding - and we were lucky to have Ben personally photograph the big day, as well as one of his photographers, David. Both Ben and David were extremely friendly, professional, and creative. They showed up on time - actually before I even got there! We chose to do the "first look" photos, which were well worth it. We had plenty of time for many creative shots on the grounds of the manor. I would definitely suggest giving them enough time for them to work their magic, because the pictures were beautiful. Ben and David took thousands of photos throughout the event. They even set up a special spot for us before the reception began, where they backlit us and created some absolutely breathtaking, magical, romantic shots. They shot many documenting photos, with beautiful still-lifes of the dress and accessories, the rings, the cake, etc. They also took wonderful candids and posed photographs. Everything was just beautiful!
So in summary, I would highly, highly recommend Barnyard Photography. Not only are they friendly and willing to go to great lengths to make you a very happy customer, but they are unbelievably reasonably priced, they get the photos to you SO quickly, they are creative, and their photographs are breathtaking. They offer their help and advice, I will be recommending Barnyard to everyone that I know needs a photographer for an event, or for their maternity photos, which also look gorgeous!
Thank you Ben and David!!
We booked Riverdale Manor for our ceremony and reception more than a year in advance. When we saw the grounds and the gorgeous ballroom and farmhouse, we immediately fell in love. The place is truly GORGEOUS! First and foremost, honestly, I would take some of the past reviews with a grain of salt. As long as you respect their clearly laid-out rules about what is and is not allowed, you will get along fine with their day-of coordinators. And their rules are not bad - they all make sense, such as making sure that, if you have candles, the base/candleholders are substantial enough so that the wax doesn't drip on the linens and the flame doesn't catch anything on fire. They also don't allow things like glitter, or tacking/taping things to the walls - but we definitely didn't want any of that anyway! Trust in the coordinators - they know what they are doing. And we did not have a cookie-cutter wedding. We were quirky and fun, and Riverdale was completely supportive of our choices.
The ceremony was held in the pavilion due to inclement weather, but it was a fantastic alternative to getting married outside. It is decorated with white lights, which cast a warm glow on our ceremony - it was so romantic and truly beautiful. The one word that I would describe the atmosphere with at the ceremony is "warm" - just a lovely glow everywhere because of the natural wood of the pavilion and the soft white lights from the ceiling above. The ballroom (which held our reception) is beautiful, with fresh white walls, hardwood floors, recycled wood beams, and wrought iron chandeliers. Everything was just lovely!
Our planner was Maureen, who was great, organized and really a wonderful person to work with. She ALWAYS got back to me quickly. E-mail is a great way to get in touch with them, and I never really had to wait more than a day or so for a response - but usually I would get a response within a few hours.
The food was also spectacular. Thyme and Seasons is Riverdale's exclusive caterer, and you cannot go wrong with them. They give you a free tasting once you have booked them. We have loads of leftovers, and even after being frozen and re-heated everything is delicious, haha!
Overall, Riverdale is a great place to have your event. I would highly recommend them to anyone! I didn't have to worry about anything on the day - they took care of placing the centerpieces (which were not from a florist but were our own quirky centerpieces), our escort cards, the frame for our guests to sign - everything. We didn't need to worry about a single thing. The whole day went very smoothly, and it was really nice to have a coordinator for the day of, which comes as a free service when you book with Riverdale.
And plus, they tucked a little gift in my reception decor boxes at the end of the reception when we were packing everything away, which I will definitely be using come Christmas :-)
Thank you Riverdale!!
We've spent many days and nights at MainStay - literally, because we actually lived there for a while once when the apartment that we were renting had a problem with the furnace for about two months. My (the bride's) mother has also stayed there many times when she's come to visit because they allow pets. So of COURSE we recommended MainStay when we were getting married! As always, MainStay was a great place to stay. Thank you MainStay!
