Our wedding and reception was beyond perfect.! Go small! If you are in-between having a small more intimate wedding/reception and a large one, choose small! The smaller you go, the more thought, detail and enjoyment you will get out of the whole planning experience. We invited a total of 75 guests, and because of that I was able to hand make many things myself, including the invitations, escort cards and holders, centerpieces, bridesmaid button bouquets, parents and grandparents boutonnieres, guest book, etc. The venue also worked with us to create a "Signature Drink" in which I made drink stirrers for as well. The ambience of The Speakeasy is indescribable and the staff along with the event coordinator, Jessica, were extremely friendly and helpful. We had our ceremony in their smaller party room, and the reception in the back party room. The prices were definitely on the low end, but you get more than you pay for at an expensive, boring venue. Plenty of meal options, we went on the "upscale" end and only ended up paying about $20 a plate. All of our guests LOVED the food. They let us get in and decorate the night before and the morning of, and the event coordinator picked up and assembled our rented linens and chair covers. The speakeasy has a nice sound system and we were able to just hook up our laptop for music, which saved us LOADS of money... who needs a dj? We just created a playlist for dinner, first dances and after dinner. We don't live close to Janesville, but the hour and a half drive was worth it to us and all of our guests, everyone had an amazing time and only had great things to say about the wedding and venue. Jessica the coordinator was fantastic and we can't thank her enough!
Jessica is in charge of all parties and events at the Speakeasy, she is amazing and was great to work with. We definitely recommend having your party or wedding at the Speakeasy.
Amazing lady to work with, very friendly and personal. Tons of photos to look through for inspiration, they even delivered to our out of the way venue for a small fee. Great Prices and delicious cake! Her business number is (815) 332-5911
If you are thinking about using any type of feathers for decoration, then you know how expensive they can get at local craft stores. Check out Lamplight Feathers, fast shipping (and .01 shipping on orders over 50 bucks) and great product. We used their peacock feathers for our invites and our centerpieces, I recommend the stem-dyed feathers. Beautiful!
Large selection of couture dresses, wonderful friendly staff. There is a talented seamstress in the upstairs of the building that I highly recommend.
The Speakeasy works with Best Events, so we just told Jessica from the Speakeasy what we wanted, and she ordered and picked up our selections from Best Events. A large array of linens to choose from!
Everything was fantastic from start to finish - We met with the event coordinator Jessica about a year before the wedding to look at the Speakeasy as a possible venue. It was a lot smaller than what we were originally going to go with, but Jessica was so nice and so easy to get along with we decided on the Speakeasy. It is beautiful inside and VERY UNIQUE. If you are looking for a different atmosphere other than dropped ceilings and an ugly carpet pattern, check them out. The food was amazing and unlike any wedding we have ever been to. Amazing appetizers, we had a "Signature Drink" and had pizzas and sandwiches brought out later during the night. Everyone loved the venue and the food. There are two party rooms, we rented out both - one for the ceremony and one for the reception. Plenty of parking and photo ops!
