Our wedding day was a dream come true. We had perfect weather, delicious food (catered by Bon Appetit Catering in Davison, MI), and everyone had a fantastic time. Although, July is one of the warmer months, it was necessary month to have the outdoor reception we wanted. Also, an FYI, July is the dryest month of the year if you're planning anything outdoors and worried about rain!
Wedding Mapper helped in a wonderful way - it gave us the map we needed to include in our invitations (and I also included it in our wedding programs for those who forgot to bring the map with them). We had a 30 minute drive from the church to the reception, so the map was a definite necessity and worked perfectly!
I hope that all of your weddings are as memorable as ours was! Happy planning! :o)
Bryan did an awesome job directing the flow of the evening. He did a great job announcing us and our wedding party into the reception, and kept our guests informed of what to expect. He has a very large assortment of music, and kept the dance floor packed the entire evening. He understands that certain music is played during cocktail hour, certain music is played at the beginning of the evening, and to wait until the end of the evening to play the good stuff. :o) He was also great about respecting our Do-Not-Play list!
Jim did a phenomenal job on our photos, and has awesome pricing (under $1,000)! He has a great eye for what makes good photography, and also has some interesting special effects, as well. The icing on the cake was how genuinely nice he is. We had a wonderful experience with him, and definitely recommend his work to others.
Bon Appetit's food was one of the biggest hits at our reception. People are still talking about it 2 months later. In addition to their mouth watering EVERYTHING, they have the coolest decorations to go along with it. I simply cannot describe their work good enough. They've won many awards (the biggest in Las Vegas!), and their pricing is exactely what we were looking for. (They could've charged twice as much and got away with it!) Gayla Dean, Chef Dean's wife, is who we met with and talked to about everything. She is such a nice person, and very passionate about her and her husband's catering business. They do a tasting once a year, around the end of March/Beginning of April, which I would definitely recommend going to for ideas.
First Presbyterian Church is a wonderful place to have a wedding ceremony. It's beautiful architechture and large sanctuary allow for ample seating. For smaller weddings there is a Chapel available.
The women had a large, nicely decorated room in which to dress and do makeup, and was attached to the women's restroom. The men had a large area downstairs complete with 2 pool tables, TV with a Wii, and couches for comfort.
The church provides very respectful and knowledgeable pastors/officiants, as well as wedding coordinators, and an organist who has his doctorate in organ performance. Carl Angelo, the organist, did an outstanding job with our wedding. For more information about him, check out http://www.fpcf.org/article/meet-our-new-organist-carl-angelo/.
Finally, First Presbyterian Church of Flint has a great location. It is located just blocks away from I-69, and because it takes up a whole city block itself, it has a large parking area.
I would definitely recommend to anyone having their wedding here.
Heavenly Scent Herb Farm has such amazing landscaping perfect for outdoor pictures. Their flowers are larger and brighter than any you've ever seen, they have a waterful, and a gorgeous fountain. It is obvious that every aspect of Heavenly Scent has been well thought out and cared for.
Past the garden is a large grassy area where we had our tent. The tent was big enough to cover 225 people, cake table, gift table, bar area, buffet tables, and DJ/dance floor area. They have a large cement area for the dance floor.
Steve and Kathy Mathews, owners of Heavenly Scent take great pride in everything they do and it shows. They are wonderful and caring people, which added to the wonderful experience we had there. It is an outdoor dream!
The rooms at AmericInn are what you would expect for the price. They aren't anything special, but they are nice and clean. I would definitely recommend them for those who are traveling from out of state and would like to save some money. They also have a nice indoor pool.
