We were married in July at The Faculty Club at UC Berkeley. It was a beautiful day. We were married as the sunset on the beautiful lawn outside, and had our reception inside the club. We didn't even mind the moose head. Wedding Mapper was a great resource to share with our guests. The parking situation is really dicey, and without this map, I am pretty sure that our guests would still be looking for parking. We highly recommend using it.
Cheryl Lew is an amazing baker. We went to her with a somewhat unique cake idea, and it really inspired and excited her! The chocolate fudge cake was amazing, and the cake was in the spotlight, it was exactly what we wanted, and all of our guests were wowed!
I love Casablanca Florist! Every time my grandmother, my mother and I had an appointment to talk about flowers, Mike was so pleasant and enjoyed our conversations and discussions about flowers. He loved that all three generations had something to say about flower choices. He made great suggestions, and really took everything we said and incorporated it into the flowers for the wedding.
The price was amazing for the quality and quantity of flowers we received. Our guests were blown away by the beautiful centerpieces and bouquets.
I would highly recommend using Casablanca Florist to anyone wanting beautiful, affordable flowers.
I am so enthralled with Traci's, I am so happy I found this place! I am a defector from The Nail Shop, where I had been a regular for eight years. From the first time I walked into Traci's they were very genuine and excited to help me out. The arm and leg massages are worth the time, I feel completely refreshed when I leave. I had nails put on for my wedding, and they talked to me about the different kinds of fake nails before I went with gels. When I came back from my honeymoon, they were super excited and kept asking for pictures. I have already started bragging to all of my friends about this amazing nail place!
I have been seeing Lisa for the last 8 years, and cannot say enough about her and her fabulous haircuts! I trust her completely with my hair, and I love every style she gives me. The best thing about her haircuts is that at two months, just when you think its time to go back , they turn into a great new hairstyle. I love going to Tique, it is so relaxing, and I love sharing stories with Lisa while she works her magic.
Lisa did my wedding hair, as well as all my bridesmaids, and we all looked wonderful. She makes styling seem so effortless and our hairstyles lasted the whole night, until the day was done.
I can't recommend her highly enough.
I am very mixed about reviewing The Faculty Club, I had my wedding here in July, and I had an amazing time! We were married on the glade and our reception was in the Great Hall. We had 100 people and I think that is the maximum to keep yourself in the hall. The servers were all very professional and courteous, I thought they did a great job. We didn't even have to decorate because of the beautiful architecture and dark wood. It really is all you need. I didn't even mind the moose head.
The reason I am giving three stars is because of two things, Kenna, the event manager, and the parking situation. Kenna seems to have worked there for quite some time, but is very absentminded about her job. She never remembered who we were, and made me panic several times, almost seeming to have double booked the venue. Kenna would make suggestions, like having the dance floor in the middle of the room, and when I would agree, she would change her mind and say it couldn't be done. My husband ended up having to deal with her for most decisions, because she would listen to him.
Parking was ridiculous. It is owned by the university, and they clearly don't get along with The Faculty Club. For both the rehearsal and the wedding, we had a huge headache with the parking attendant and the permits needed. Several family members received tickets, and we ended up sending Kenna down at one point to try and straighten the problems out. Several of our guests missed the ceremony because they were dealing with the morons who were working parking. It was really frustrating.
So, I have a very mixed review, I loved my wedding, and I believe every venue has its own bizarre quirks, you just have to decide if these are the problems you can put up with for your wedding.
We had our rehearsal dinner here, and I am so glad we picked it! We really wanted the RD at a brewery, with a casual relaxed feel. We were skeptical about Pyramid, just because their dinners are on the high end normally. However, the buffet selection was reasonably priced, and really delicious. I don't think any food was leftover from the party. We had around fifty guests, and were in the Board Room upstairs. There was a birthday party on the landing, and I was glad we were in our own closed off room.
The servers were fast, efficient and understanding. The poor things couldn't keep up with our beer consumption, no matter how many pitchers they brought up at one time.
I would recommend the Brewery for a fun-filled beer induced night.
