Evanston is a lovely place to get married - there are a million old churches and some great views of the city. My out of towners were easily able to hop on the El to get downtown when they had free time. Our wedding was small, so our options were better. We also needed to throw a wedding on the cheap, but were able to do so easily for under $9K in Evanston.
The rooms were nice. I was a little frustrated with the Sales Manager - I had a hard time getting a return phone call. Also, I had booked with a Sales Manager that is no longer there and he had promised me group rooms on the upper floors facing south. When people booked, they weren't necessarily given those rooms. I left a complaint message at the beginning of the wedding weekend and never got a return call. They did have a free shuttle, though, that took my guests to and from the ceremony.
Very affordable and a really neat place. The people who run the building are fantastic. It's probably better for more casual folk. Maxes out around 80-90 people.
Food was incredible, staff is fantastic, no site fee. They know the most affordable way to run a bar package. Maxes out around 80 people. We used minimal decorations (just small centerpieces and some candles) and it was really beautiful. You can only get in about an hour or so before your event, but it worked out fine for us.
