Getting married in Tulsa doesn't sound as desirable as many locations in the world but there are MANY things for visitors to see. Using Wedding Mapper helped our guests find the Aquarium, the Zoo, Museums, shopping and of course our wedding and reception site. It was kind of cold getting married in October with temps about 60 degrees and cloudy and the fall leaves hadn't really changed like we had wanted yet but overall our wedding day was perfect. It didn't rain, and that was our biggest fear for an outdoor wedding.
Donna's cakes are HANDS DOWN the BEST in the Tulsa area. She has the MOST unique flavors and designs. She is a true artist and offers so many special touches. She is kind and easy to work with, not like some of the stuffy other bakeries in town like Ludgers. They were rude and stuck up. With Donna you will get one on one attention and she delivers the cakes herself and decorates them. We loved her cake so much that we are now trying to find reasons to buy other cakes. A week after our wedding, we were still eating leftovers and they were just as good as the day of our wedding. TRUST ME, choose Donna McNeill and you will be hearing how amazing your cake was LONG after your wedding. Just plain AWESOME!
Mandy was so great to work with. I had ZERO inspiration on flowers and she came up with the most gorgeous arrangements and bouquets. As a matter-of-fact, my Husband and I are magicians and Mandy suggested we use Hocus Pocus Roses, which I didn't even know existed but they were gorgeous and tailored to fit our personalities and our gorgeous fall wedding. She worked WELL within our budget. I still can't believe what all we got for our money. She is so talented, easy to work with and HONEST. That is SO important when you are a first time bride who doesn't want to have to wheel and deal to save some money. Weddings are expensive so spend your money wisely. Mandy can create an elaborate affair or keep it simple and beautiful and you will be VERY happy. Her personal touches made our wedding day stress free and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone!
Ceremony was outside, you will want to rent the arch and decorate it, or bring your own arch as the outside area with the stage is not all that attractive on its own, with just a stucko wall. However, once decorated, having the ceremony outside was gorgeous. If you rent the Bed and Breakfast as well you can have your ceremony on the grounds and it is even more beautiful.
The food was AMAZING! Chef Jeff at the Silo made everything from scratch. The price was very affordable and the food blew us away. Right down to the quality of lettuce at our salad station, which was all gorgeous and colorful. They definitely did not skimp on quality. Also, Tim and Rachel at the Silo did everything they could to ensure our wedding went smoothly. They decorate the room if you need help and answered every email I sent in a timely manor. The ONLY downside was that our wedding was on a Sunday so we had to have rehearsal on Saturday morning as another wedding was booked on Saturday night, which also meant we couldn't get into the room until noon the day of our wedding. That didn't leave much time to set up the room before our early afternoon wedding. They did set up a table for me earlier in the week so I could come with my family who was helping decorate so I could get an idea of how I wanted it to look. Honestly though, there isn't a nicer venue in Tulsa. The room is gorgeous and the food was outstanding. I just recommend having at least a 5 hour reception. We only rented for the 4 hours and it flew by to fast. We needed more time. The venue is beautiful, the grounds are like nothing else in Tulsa and if you can afford it, you should just rent out the entire Cedar Rock Inn so you have full use of the grounds for pictures and getting ready etc....
Good location, great rooms, great food, but we had a lot of problems with them not honoring our hotel block. Our guests were told that our block was full on several occassions when it wasn't. To many issues to mention, but since our wedding the hotel has gone to different management. I would reccomend the hotel based on location and having an indoor pool and hottub/ breakfast but make sure your block of rooms is honored and tell your guests that if they have ANY problems to let you know immediately. We wanted to have a luncheon in the breakfast area and they were going to charge us. Many hotels wouldn't have blinked at letting us eat lunch in the breakfast area just to hang out and visit with each other but this hotel said they would charge us. I wasn't very happy with them at all. However, after all the problems they did end up comping my fiance and my room for the entire weekend.
