We had a mindblowingly fantastic time getting married in Key West. The weather was fantastic, the hotels and (almost) all vendors we used were so, so nice and professional, and the 44 guests had a great time. We did a secular handfasting ceremony at a state park (the best beach in Key West is part of this park) and followed that with a reception on a catamaran during the sunset. Finally, we had an afterparty at a local bar. Everything was perfect; there were a few minor issues that came up (my veil flying into a tiki torch, for example!), but nothing that took away from the experience.
These guys were so much fun! They do full wedding photography, but I just used them for a photo booth, which we placed in the bar where we had our afterparty. John Hunter worked with me and my budget to deliver a great photobooth experience. They printed 2 copies of each photo, one for the guest and one for a guestbook that people could sign as they put their photo in. A really fun reminder of the day.
I love these ladies - they did a beautiful job airbrushing our makeup so that it would last in the humidity of Key West. The hair was beautiful too, though I suggest not trying to do curly hair if you have straight hair -- I did this and though it looked great for the first few hours, it felt right out on the boat! But overall, everyone looked gorgeous, the Glam Squad came to my hotel, and they were a blast to hang out with.
This florist responded to a last minute request of mine (2 days before the wedding!) because I need some arrangements to mark the ceremony location. They were prompt, helpful, and the flowers were beautiful - they matched the exact rose I used in our bouquets (we made those ourselves) and arranged them with greens in a conch shell - very Key West. Highly recommend these folks.
These guys are somewhat typical of Key West -- very, very laid back, which can drive you kind of crazy if you are planning bride. I had trouble getting in touch with them throughout the process, but once I did, the guitarist we hired was helpful (helped us choose songs) and played beautifully. He had clearly done lots of weddings and blended in very well. Very nice guy.
Very good vendor -- being that I planned most of the design and details of the wedding, I wanted the cake/cupcakes to match, so I sent a description of what I wanted, as well as the materials (ric rac, etc) and cupcake toppers to Key West Cakes. They delivered what I asked for perfectly.
The food was wonderful, and they worked within the budget I wanted. They catered on the catamaran with no problem. When you want something other than the standard conch fritter fare that so often is served in Key West, go with Great Events. It was all appetizers and finger food, which worked perfectly on the boat.
These ladies are the best. Being a big planner and detail person (and the fact that I live in VA!), I chose to have them do the day-of coordination package, which is so, so worth it so that as a bride, you can enjoy the day completely. Allison also helped me along the way, suggesting vendors, helping solve problems, and just being there for me as I stressed out!
This was a fantastic and cheap way to transport my guests from the ceremony to the reception -- these guys know the island very well and the guests loved the trolley! Makes a fun photo-op and as I said, great cheap transport. There are no better options in Key West, trust me!
Beautiful setting, despite being semi-private. Reasonable pricing for ceremonies, compared to many other sites. Best for smaller weddings.
