On August 31st, I married the love of my life. Jim Albani was our officiant and we could not be happier with our choice! He was organized, professional, kind, and so patient. He made it really easy for us to pick out everything that we wanted to include in our ceremony and did everything just perfectly. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure that my husband and I had a beautiful, and personalized ceremony. We are so happy we found him and would strongly recommend using Jim as an officiant to anyone getting married!
We could not find another string quartet for what we paid for the Aurora String Quartet. They played everything we asked, and even moved their chairs up to a different level when we asked because we couldn't hear them for cocktail hour. Very easy to work with and definitely worth the money.
Our wedding did not go as smoothly as we thought it would, especially for the price tag of Carlson. The good news is that we still ended up married at the end of the day.
While trying to change into our dresses in the cafe we were promised to use, some man kept going in and out of his office that happened to be right where we were. Our "coordinator", Bev, said there was nothing she could do about it.
We were unaware that even though you pay for both a ceremony and reception, that Carlson does not and will not do anything to help set up your ceremony (i.e. a sand ceremony). No big deal, as we had many helpers on site.
We paid over $400 for a champagne toast at the end of our ceremony, which had to occur twice because there was still an entire row that hadn't received their glasses. Bev was asking guests where we were in the ceremony, rather than following along in the program. The servers were standing in our way as we were trying to do the rose ceremony for our mothers, because they were passing the champagne too late.
Our dinner was cold and not half as good as the tasting. It also took about 20 min between courses. So instead of taking 50 minutes total for dinner as planned, it took over 90, resulting in a lot of people leaving early in the dance. At one table, a server took away the basket of rolls before dinner was over. When a guest said she would like another one, he told her that each guest was only allowed one, and proceeded to take the basket away.
The bar never got bigger inside as we were told it would. My husband had to ask Bev to, at least, bring in the second bartender so there wasn't a line at the bar anymore. When you have 200 guests, one bartender just will not cut it, which is why we paid for two.
We paid almost $21,000 to this vendor and expected everythinbg to be effortless and flawless for our big day but they just did not meet our expectations, though, it is a beautiful venue.
Some time after the wedding, someone in charge of making our wedding day go smoothly and perfectly (as we were assured by Dawn that it would) was caught talking disrespectfully about my husband and I, and our wedding day, while at a fitness club. I could not have been more shocked to hear this. The people in charge of Bon Apetit should be ashamed of themselves for employing such a person.
It has been over three months since our wedding and we have yet to get any type of compensation from them.
