Vail in July couldn't have been better. We were able to find reasonable prices on hotels, the town is the prettiest you will see all year, lots of things going on. We chose a high risk, high reward location by getting married at Piney River Ranch and it was the best high reward we could've received. It was unique and really catered to our personal interests making it truly an unforgettable day.
Initially, this was our favorite vendor to work with. Jan was so nice up front and helped us find our band for the wedding day. Everything fell apart after our wedding. We paid a considerable amount extra to have our video expedited and when it came in the mail, it was just our ceremony, not the entire DVD that was promised. When we called, they told us that was what we paid for, but it was not written anywhere that it would only be a portion of our day. Our final DVD finally arrived later than 6 months after our wedding date and after 10 unanswered phone calls and one call that was answered and said our DVD would be in the mail the next day. It came a month after that. After all was said and done, we were still very disappointed with the amount of footage that was placed into our DVD. Jan told me that in order for their company to be profitable, they can only work so many hours to edit the footage and then they quit editing. That was evident as none of our reception was covered on our DVD. We could send it back to the company for several hundred dollars to add to our DVD. In addition, if we wanted all of the raw footage, we would need to pay $600 extra to receive it and once again, a couple extra hundred dollars to edit or add to the original DVD. I will never work with this company again- one that I had high hopes for due to initial good rapport. We got slammed in the back, paid more money than our video is worth and left us with a bitter taste when we watch a video that should be so special to us.
Rae was AMAZING to work with, taking the time to sit down with us for as many hours as needed to be sure we were all on the same page, discover new flower arrangements, and to create a beautiful display for our wedding day. Don't let her east coast accent fool you, she is a gentle loving lady who has a very good eye for flowers and always willing to be flexible so that style was never compromised due to cost. WE LOVE HER and loved the way all of our flowers turned out. So beautiful!
Abbra and Dave are the best photographers. And they make you feel like you are their best friend on top of it. They make the experience of photography not feel cheesy, framed, or set up. They capture natural moments, they capture the art around you, and they become pictures that friends tell us should be displayed in magazines! They gave us every picture that was shot that day which made it extra special.
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING LOCATION. No beautiful building could compare to the natural beauty of the lake and the Gore Range in the background that Piney offers. We could not have asked for a better view and a better wedding day. However, this place came with a lot of risks. First, it is 11 miles or 45 minutes up a bumpy, dirt road. We needed to provide transportation for our guests which came at a high cost. Also, this particular year Piney came under new management and what had been promised to us at the beginning was not fulfilled in the end. I believe that given a few more years under this new management system, Piney will be one of the best places to get married. We stressed about the lack of communication, the renovations not being completed, the road not being graded, the large dumpster upon the entry all the way up until the wedding day. Ultimately, we sacrificed a few things, but everything turned out wonderfully. Pam and the staff made our wedding day glitch free and were the best hosts for our important day. We intend to go back every year for our anniversary
The only reason this isn't getting 5 stars is because the organization and communication up to the event was a little stressful. Otherwise, they came through with flying colors. Our guests raved that it was the best hotel they've ever stayed at. Great food, great service, BEAUTIFUL condos, great views of the mountains, close to town which made it easy for guests to walk around. The flowers in July are phenomenal. The room where we had our Rehearsal dinner, the Lord Gore room was absolutely stunning with large windown views of the mountain.
