Everyone said that our wedding was the best wedding they had ever been to, and they seemed surprised. Even the family members we dont get along with congratulated us on putting together a great event. I really give credit to my vendors for pulling this off and me for doing all of the research to find them, haha. Take a look at my photographers link to see pictures of what we did.
Bruce Pike provided a flow to the evening and had everyone dancing the entire time. He was subtle but had a sixth sense on when to encourage people to dance. I highly recommend him to any bride and 2 separate sources recommended him to me.
Thomas Graves is very skilled and seemed like a cousin who had the best camera. He was never intrusive but somehow captured all of the important moments. He and his assistant were discreet but captured the memories as they happened, which was important for me. Every picture told a story instead of being overly posed. Take a look at his blog http://light-shoot-print.blogspot.com/2011/09/return-to-comus-inn-for-disney.html to see examples of our wedding.
I had a creative idea for our cake and Michelle was the only person who seemed to grasp what I was saying. She pulled off a beautiful and meaningful cake and cupcakes and the taste was even better! delicious and affordable! I would use her again for any event I have in the future!
Pia Etchegoimberry was the makeup artist for myself, my bridesmaids and my mother. We all have different complexions, needs, and ages and Pia managed us all perfectly. Included in the price is foundation and lipstick for the bride and the other girls get a lip gloss to retouch (not all makeup vendors include that). I had a few blemishes on the day of but looking at the pictures (even the ones that werent retouched haha) you can't tell. I looked gorgeous and I felt confident about it, and the makeup lasted the entire day (10 am to 11 pm). I would use her again in a heart beat and it really took the pressure off of the bridal party to not have to do their own makeup. here is a link to some of the pictures my photographer took to see some examples, the pictures are not retouched. http://thomasgraves.com/SR0924/
Tania has been my hairstylist for years... and I don't even live in Maryland anymore. I time my hair appointments for when I visit my family because is the only one I trust with my hair. My hair is thick and wavy and she manages it very well. More importantly for me, she manages my sister/moh's hair really well (Tania is her regular stylist as well) and my sister has VERY curly and thick hair. Tania knows how each persons individual hair type and face type work best together and she takes my concerns and then makes something beautiful and managable out of it. for the wedding she did myself, my bridesmaids and my mother. All different hair types and we all looked gorgeous. I did the hair trial at the Cahra salon where she works and then had her come to my house to do everyone on the day of. She brings her sister to assist her but she does all the hair herself. I did have one bridesmaid try to limit what Tania did to hair and it looked awful so I asked Tania what she wanted to do, so she explained why with the girls face and thin hair changing the part and reworking it would suit her better. So my bridesmaid let Tania try it and she looked amazing and was finally happy with her hair. here is a link to some of my photographers photos if you want to see examples of what she did. http://thomasgraves.com/SR0924/
Having gone to school at St. Bartholomews it was nice to get married there. The lighting for the pictures worked just fine and we took formal pictures in front of the altar, they looked lovely. I used the church wedding coordinator (just for the ceremony) who was very helpful, I highly recommend using her as she can setup and clean up and has her own set of keys so access to the church isnt a problem. also we hired the music director and her husband to be the cantor, they had great suggestions and the music was lovely.
The perfect backdrop for any wedding. The staff, especially the head waitress, was well trained and timed everything perfectly. The events manager is very disorganized so be prepared to pursue her and follow up on conversations to make sure she actually receives them. She also does not have ready suggestions on the different kinds of meals or drinks. Other than that it was remarkable and everyone really liked having the mountains in the background to take great pictures of their own families and friends.
We used the hotel for ourselves and the majority of our wedding guests. They dont have a complimentary breakfast and their restaurant breakfast is horrible. The rooms however are lovely, new, clean, and affordable. The suite my new husband and I stayed in was perfect, very spacious, and a great place to get away from family and relax. Our guests were very pleased at how nice the room was for such an affordable rate. We chose this hotel for the majority of our guests because we knew it was nice and affordable and our out of town guests needed something less expensive. Also there is a free shuttle to the Rio Center and the Metro.
I was going to have my husband and I stay here the night of our wedding but the rate for the suites, with the wedding discount, was the same price as what we spent for the entire weekend stay at the Crowne Plaza. The rooms are also older and wifi is not provided in the rooms. So we stayed at the Crowne Plaza instead and the majority of our guests followed us. The great thing about the Marriott though is out of town guests have the restuarants, movie theater and shops within walking distance. So we did have our older guests stay here.
