Biography: Colombian-American guitarist, Carlos Castilla, has been featured as a soloist with orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as in solo recitals in different cities of Latin-America and the United States. He has worked as a collaborative artist with orchestras featuring stars such as Placido Domingo, James Galway, and Bernadette Peters. Carlos is the co-founder of Duo Guitiano, along with Cuban pianist Amanda Virelles, and is known for his innovative technique, warm and powerful sound, and soulful interpretations.
Dr. Castilla holds a Bachelor of music from Los Andes University at Bogotá-Colombia where he studied with Maestro Jaime Arias Obregón, and also holds a Master degree and a Doctorate in Guitar performance and pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi, with Dr. Nicholas Ciraldo.
Carlos is available for recitals, chamber music collaborations, recording sessions, and different types of events. Currently he resides in Nashville, Tennessee.

Carlos is incredibly talented, professional and accommodating. He played our wedding ceremony last August and was willing to learn any song we asked him to (and we had some unique requests!). The songs sounded fantastic and he was a joy to work with. I couldn't recommend him more highly!
I must also admit I was leaning more toward wanting a string quartet or something more traditional for the ceremony, and my husband convinced me to go this route instead. I am so happy we took the risk. It couldn't have turned out better! Definitely, if you are considering hiring him, do it!
