The Manor Inn and Cottages, a National Historic Site, has space available that is ideal for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and corporate and family events.

Originally built in 1896 as a family-oriented, luxury mountain inn, The Manor Inn and Cottages were inhabited mainly by lowcountry residents as an escape from the heat of the summer months. Hotel guests stayed entire seasons, living in the inn itself or in one of the well-appointed guest cottages. What followed were decades of healthy business as a destination hotel, restaurant, and party venue; the Manor's ballroom, built in 1913, was the site for many a dance and debutante ball. But The Manor Inn began to fall on hard times, and experienced a period of decline in the 1970s and 1980s. Just as local historians began to despair that they might lose this irreplaceable gem, a local family who firmly believed in the value of such a historic and famous site, rescued it via a major restoration effort that was undertaken in 1992-93, and The Manor Inn and Cottages were restored to their youthful beauty.

Today, The Manor Inn enjoys a new life in the form of 35 beautiful apartments with all the perks of modern living (central heat and air, new plumbing, wiring, appliances) while still maintaining the original 19th century charm and grace. Units range from cozy one-bedroom units to massive one- and two-story units with western mountain views from private decks; each apartment is unique - no two are alike.

The Inn's original dining room, card room, and Peacock Alley, where turn-of-the-century guests once socialized while spending their summers in the mountains, are now available for short-term events. The rooms retain their original hardwood floors, distinctive, gracious, Victorian styling, and open floor plans. The original colors used to decorate the inn in 1896 were rediscovered during the restoration and have been used throughout the building. The dining room and card room feature high ceilings, western mountain views, original oak paneling, and richly colored walls. Peacock Alley features walls of bright, sunny windows on two sides, perfect for capturing the colors of the season.

Well over a century of history and local lore are part of what makes The Manor Inn the truly special place it is in the hearts of Asheville residents, native and newcomer alike.
