So we are planning our beach wedding and my mom insists the beach at Longboat Key is nicer than Siesta Key and would be less crowded for a ceremony. Anyone have any ideas which location is better? I have spoken with the Parks dept in Longboat Key and there is no fee for having a ceremony on the beaches there and she gave me the public access locations but which one to choose I have no idea??
Siesta Key (especially the public access at Siesta Beach Park) gets very busy and very crowded. Traffic, parking, and crowded beaches can be problematic for weddings on weekends. Longboat Key is definitely better in my opinion, but the beach access is limited.
Anna Maria Island and St Pete Beach are also great options.
There are plenty of public accesses on Siesta Key Beach that do not require permits, will not cost you a fee, and the beach and sand is so much better than Longboat Key! There is no comparison, really!
Depending on the time of the year you are looking to get married and the time of day will depend on the crowds. Because the beach access on Longboat Key is limited - you are more likely to have a larger crowd there than on Siesta Key, which has a number of public beach accesses.
Feel free to give me a call and I'm happy to speak with you and give you some direction!
