Beach Wedding | 100 Guests | Possible with $15,000?

My fiancé grew up in Escondido, CA, and she has always dreamed of having a beach wedding in San Diego. I grew up as a farm boy and don't know much about the area, or beaches for that matter. But what I do know is that she's the love of my life and just want to see her smile and enjoy our wedding day.

I may be widely underestimating, but is it possible to have a beach wedding with around 100 guests in San Diego with a budget of $15k? If it is, do you have any advice on venues, vendors, etc.? I could use all the help I can get. Thanks everyone for listening and I wish you all the very best in life.

There are no places to have a wedding on the beach, but plenty that are near the beach with water views. See for example the Coronado Community Center. If you have a set budget, I would search for all inclusive wedding packages that are offered in San Diego. Packages are certainly the way to stretch your wedding dollar most efficiently. We actually offer a package that may meet your budget depending on your vision. Feel free to call on us any time for a complimentary consultation. 866-535-8949 ext 0

Best of Luck & Congratulations!

@ryancal09johnson

I read this post and had to re-read it several times wondering if it was an older post my husband had written. I was born and raised in Escondido and he was born and raised on a farm in the mid west. Your story sounds sooooo similar to ours. I had my dream wedding back in 2009 in San Diego.

I know it sounds like a big expense but hire a wedding planner. In the end I would bet money that the planner will save you more than they cost and they know all the ins and outs and have so many "hook ups" that they just make life so much more enjoyable prior to the big day.

We used Barb Langdon at Panache Events. I highly recommend her. Her number is 951.551.8818.

Yes, you can have a wedding by the beach for $15,000 or less. I am assuming you want the ceremony on the beach and the reception at a venue? I just finished two weddings both at different venues and one was $6,000 and the other was $15,000.00. You can put together a great wedding for that price. I totally agree with dominque.marine. Hire a wedding planner, check out Wedding Wire or My San Diego wedding for reviews and local event planners. If anything pay them for a couple of hours work to get the venues and vendors that fit within your budget that they know will do a good job for you. You can then take those leads and do your interviewing. Make sure to look up questions you should be asking those vendors, don't go to your meetings without knowledge.

Also....a must hire them for the day of coordination. It sounds like you cherish your wife to be so don't let her have stress on her wedding day. It takes about 3-4 hours to set up for the wedding and about an hour to tear down. There is always some issue that will arise and a good planner will take care of the issues and leave your day for you to both enjoy.

Your wedding day is far enough out to secure your venue, but don't wait too long. That and the officiant are the first two things you want to reserve.....Hope this helps.
Here is the parks/permit link:

There are venues that overlook the water and are not directly on the beach for another option. Some are right across from the beach and beach photos can absolutely be taken right after the ceremony on the beach.

By the way The Abbey Catering has great staff and delicious food! I used them fo my own wedding and they recently worked for a client of mine and served a delicious meal.

I would check out La Jolla Shores Hotel and possible the Bahia Resort. Don't get swept up in all the package options and you'll be able to keep the budget under 15K.

One thing to be aware of if you have your wedding on a public beach your rentals will have to be delivered and picked up the same day and possibly after hours. FYI these are added costs so plan for them in your budget. Depending on the distance from the delivery truck, sand delivery and stairs can also add to the costs.

You can also go to the military bases...as they have opened the facilities up to non-military personnel. Here's one location at MCRD, it actually sits on the Mission Bay...so not exactly the beach, but it is really pretty. http://www.mccsmcrd.com/Dining/BayViewRestaurant/Catering/index.html#num=content-740816&id=album-28667

More information about the other base locations. You can Google images of each to get a better idea of the exact location. Also, they do offere packages.

Best of luck...she sounds like a very fortunate bride-to-be with such a thoughtful fiance!!

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club was one of our first choices, but it requires a membership or sponsorship from a current member. By any chance, is there someone who may be able to help us?
