< back to topic list >Need help w. Morro permit.
I've read a few of the posts on this topic but they seem to be a bit older. Have any of you current or recent brides secured a permit to have your wedding at El Morro on your own? Was it difficult?
(Any vendors know of a DOC that could help me with this? My budget for DOC is around $500. I only need help with the permit, some vendor referrals, and decorating the ceremony site on the day-of. One of the other vendors could even take this on in addition to other services.)
Thank you all in advance for any suggestions/advice!

I got married in San Juan a couple of years ago. I didn't get married at El Morro, but I had some pictures taken there, you are going to love it! Beware, the walk from the car to the fort is looong, specially under that sun and dress! You are definitely going to brake a sweat, so make sure you are prepared for a make up touch-up after that walk. After that the sun is not going to be an issue, the wind will be. No hairspray or bobby pins are going to be too much. You don't want to have half of your hair messed up in the middle of the ceremony, right?? The lady who helped me put everything together just the way I wanted was Carmen with WedAffair. She was very reasonable compared to all the ridiculous prices I was quoted by other companies. She does packages, but she also accommodates to exactly what you need. Her phone number is 787.775.0777. Good luck!!!

My suggestion is to contact a local wedding planner like Milly Centeno: [email protected], she know everything about permits for a wedding there.

@pmo_yao - Thank you for the advice! I will definitely be sure to plan for make up and hair touch ups. I hadn't even thought of it!
I will call Carmen tomorrow and see if she can help me out.
@Noel - Do you think Milly could work within my budget? I could bump it up some but I've heard that her services can be expensive. I don't need too much help, just help with the permit and some referrals for other vendors. I can do all the calling and all of that.
I'm still open for more suggestions =) Brides? Vendors?

Hi! She can help you as a part=time wedding planner, just for your needs. She is very sweet. It is very important somebody to recommend to you good vendors.
I am getting married on El Morro on June 22. If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to help you. I am sure you know that the first step is getting your permit through Jorge. Here is his contact information just in case:

Ashley! I would love to ask you a few questions! That would mean the world to me. Is there any way you could email me so we can chat without boring all of wedding mapper? lol My email address is my username @ gmail.com
I checked out your wedding map and I saw that you're doing your rehearsal dinner at Toro Salao and that's actually where we're thinking of doing our reception! (Our party is small so we didn't need a full hotel reception space.) Great minds must think alike! ;)
I just got off the phone with Jorge. You were right. He was very helpful. I'm feeling better about the possibilities for my wedding. Thanks!
