Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens is a can't miss. You may find it a bit cliche, but the property is huge, so the photos don't have to be cliche. (We had our wedding there and our photographers caught angles and settings I've never seen before or since.) Go and explore it before your portrait date to find some cool locations in the gardens, on the bridges, near the house, near the Birch Tree Allee.

In what part of Akron are you going to be?

It depends on what kind of photos you want, but I recommend going to Highland Square. Outside the Highland Theater or any of the quaint shops would make for a great back drop. For more pastoral pictures, there are a lot of parks that you could go to...Sand Run, etc.

...also, don't worry about the weather! It rained on our wedding day and we ended up using it to get some unique photos. I ended up borrowing a pair of wellington-type boots from my cousin and we got photos of me in the boots and dress. We also got photos of us kissing under a bright red and white umbrella.

I guess I should've added that we're looking for somewhere to go/use for free! The ceremony is by Akron U and the reception is in Fairlawn.

Also check out the Ohio and Erie canal towpath trail near the old mustill store.

Thanks for the link. I would definitely like to do something like that but I just fear with most parks like that, you can't get a good shot unless you do some walking and I'm not trying to be hiking in my wedding dress!
