I am trying to choose between this two. I have booked Solas but I found out about maggianos and I am confused now. I would like to hear some feedback about these two places

I think it depends on what type of feel you are going for. Solas seems more posh and new, and Maggianos is more traditional and homey feeling. Not sure if homey is a word. =) I've never eaten at Solas, but it looks really cool, especially if you can get the outdoor area for the reception, it gives it that wow factor. It also depends on how you think their service will be from talking with them and from reviews. Congrats and good luck with your planning!!

We had our reception at Maggiano's and it was AMAZING. Everything was set up beautifully, the wait staff and bartender were friendly and took very good care of everyone, and we got compliments from all of our guests on the food. We were in the Palazzo Room with ~45 guests, and we had a five-course meal, plus our wedding cake (which they also set up) and (I think) the Silver option for the bar. They set up the favors and name cards as well. The dinner was served family style, except for the appetizers, and it really helped everyone to be friendly and chat with one another.

We didn't have dancing or a DJ or anything though, and there wouldn't have been room in the Palazzo even if we had wanted those, so I don't know much about what a reception would have been like in the other room.

I'd be happy to email you some of our photos if you'd like to see. :)

All in all, I could not have been happier with our reception.

As an officiant, I have done weddings at both Solas and Maggiano's. The weddings at Maggiano's can be seen at this link on my blog: http://raleighweddingblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Maggiano%27s For the one wedding I did at Solas, go here: http://raleighweddingblog.blogspot.com/search/label/Solas The atmosphere of each one is different so it depends on what you want. Solas is a sleek modern jazzy club setting whereas Maggiano's is an Italian restaurant with dark wood and traditional tables and chairs. Depending on which area of Maggiano's you choose you can have a small or large crowd. The food is delicious at either place. Parking can be a challenge at either place. Southpoint has plenty but usually all spaces except handicapped are taken near the restaurant. Solas is street parking with valet service in busy Glenwood South. If you have specific questions, email me at kayelily@gmail.com.

I am getting married at Solas in June and they have so far been amazing and very easy to work with.

Hi Tarah, I assume you must have found an officiant since I never heard back from you about meeting 1/21. If not, I am still available for your date.

I recently used Solas for my wedding venue. My Husband and I were searching for a nontraditional yet affordable venue and were about to give up for our plan B...eloping to some tropical paradise until we had a drink one afternoon on the terrace of Solas and realized the potential this venue has for any type of event. We met with the Event Coordinator "Lauren Dealto" who was AMAZING! She's super laid back but extremely professional and helpful. She worked within our limited budget and made sure we missed out on NOTHING! Our ceremony was held on the rooftop followed by the cocktail hour and reception on the 2nd floor. We even used one of the VIP rooftop cabanas for the after party. Lauren AND her staff truly made our wedding perfect...even taking my husbands smelly shoes back to our car...long story! Everyone is still talking about how great the food was...seriously, we didn't pick Solas for the food but you'd have a hard time telling our guests that. Aside from the eats, our guests really enjoyed the convenience Solas provides with only a staircase or elevator between wedding venue and reception. Sound was top notch as one would imagine since it's a club by night, they offer very inexpensive valet parking, original and modern decor, and killer cocktails.

Lauren also set us up with our DJ... "Dave Severance" who moonlights at Solas for various events and drove our wedding from start to finish allowing us to select our playlists for the cocktail and dining hours while doing what he does best during the party portion and keeping the dance floor (see through!) packed with moving bodies.

Lauren is an ace...use her while you can. We're huge fans and you will be as well. I don't think this place is going to be a wedding secret for very long with her behind their event planning.
