We did Harry's on the Harbour, they have a great private room overlooking the river and they are VERY reasonably priced.

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding!! The planning process is so much fun! My Husband and I just got married on 5.14.11. When we were looking for a venue it was very important to us that we did not have our wedding at a typical restaurant or banquet hall. We had our reception at the Saturn Club on Delaware Ave. Our reception was AMAZING!!!! Scott was a pleasure to work with, and as anal about details as I was which was perfect. Family and friends are still talking about how good the food was! I HIGHLY recommend the Saturn Club if you are looking for a unique historical venue for your wedding in Buffalo. It offers both indoor and outdoor settings.

Hi, we just got married at duck island in niagara falls, my sister got married at the falls last year. Both places were great. I have my dinner at the como and my sister had hers at the red coach inn. We both had I Do Ceremonies: Candace Cattarin, she performed both of our ceremonies and she is excellent. I know she will travel within the area. Five stars for her and she only charges 75.00

Best wishes

Congrats!

The best place to start would be talk to your photographer. As an area photographer I have photographed countless venues and have witnessed many locations, everything from the ceremony to the reception. I am sure you will find good and bad at many locations but we had a wedding at Harry's Harbor recently and although the staff was pleasant they accidentally closed down the bar, forgot to serve the parents after the wedding party, did not bring out the salmon in time and forgot the hot appetizers.

Your location, like your wedding photography, should be based on what fits you as a couple. If you want something urban, look for a venue such as the Hyatt, Memorial Art Gallery, Shea's, the Casino or something similar. If you are more country, check out the Japanese Gardens, Botanical Gardens or Klocks Grove.

Take your time looking for your venue, you only get one shot and there is more to the site than just location and taste of the food during your one on one session with them. If you are having a sit down dinner with 300 people you want to ensure the food is flavorful and hot. In addition, don't forget how it will photograph! Sure the yellow walls match your wedding colors, but is it the color you want in EVERY photo? Best of luck!!!

We do photograph weddings about 30 per year. Our website is www.twinbolt.com. Check it out and contact us if you are interested.

Don't rush into photography, your location or anything else. Many brides are waiting longer to book things now days. Two years ago we were booking about two years in advance, now we are down to about 9-12 months on average. Venues report the same as do other photographers and florists. If you find a photographer or venue that is a must have and everything clicks, by all means don't wait!

However if something makes you want to keep "shopping around. " follow your instinct. EVERYTHING about your day should make you feel comfortable and like you have let that particular task be handle by an "expert". This includes your venue, photography, florist, baker and DJ/musicians. I am not saying to ignore your budget but you can find affordable AND great vendors.

I hope that helps! -tara

The food at the Saturn Club is absolutely hands down the best food I have ever had. We had a three choice menu of filet mignon, chicken fontina, and salmon. The filet was so tender that you could cut it with a fork. All the food came out hot and presented beautifully! If you have a tight budget then the Saturn Club may not be the place for you. I can't give an exact price per head, it depended on which entree each guest ordered. I would say the range is between $80-$100 a head. It was totally worth it! If you can afford it I would definatley consider going there. We also did a consumption bar where you pay by how much alcohol is consumed instead of the standard price per head. It's the way to go, even if you don't go to the Saturn Club many venues offer this option.

We had our wedding reception (6 hours) at the Botanical Gardens on South Park St. It was amazing! The staff there (Mary Rose, Steve, and Joy) were super helpful. I seriously couldn't have asked for better people to work with, also considering the fact that I was an out of town bride. A very nice feature about the Gardens is the fact that the setting is so completely different from other receptions most others have been to before. This is a huge benefit. Not only can guests enjoy your wedding, but they can also walk around the entire Gardens! No one will be bored. It was a huge hit! Guests continue telling me that our wedding was the nicest and the most fun of any they have attended. Approximately how many guests do you plan on having? I had 80 attend, but the Gardens can accommodate more. I also had a stations style meal and no assigned seating, which made things very nice since guests could eat and drink at their leisure, but still feel like they were involved in what was going on. Seriously, check out the Gardens! It is the best decision you will make. They also do ceremonies if you are interested in that too. And the venue is reasonably priced. You definitely get what you pay for and more!
