We are getting married end of Oct and we have planned adult only evening. It is a destination wedding and the hotel is 2 miles from ceremony/reception site. My sister who is maid of honor just informed me that if her 2 daughters (14 & 10)could not attend ceremony she was not coming. Here's the dilemna: Her daughters are a nightmare, no one wants to be in charge of them. If they come to ceremony, which will last 15 min. how are they getting back to hotel? I am afraid my sister will come up to me after ceremony and say if they can't stay for reception she is leaving. My sister is divorced and the girls could stay with their father for the weekend but she already went out and got them dresses for the ceremony. Now I don't know what to do. My parents don't want to watch them either.
My sister is in the works of planning her own wedding and she has decided to have an adult only reception. She wants the adults to be able to have fun and not worry about what their kids or someone elses kids are doing. She is expecting for some of the parents to say they will not attend or have babysitting issues but she is sticking firm and i think you should too. This is your day not your sisters, her kids are old enough to be with a babysitter or by themselves and behave. To get to the point I would explain to your sister that no other kids will be there and you hope she can make arrangements and be able to come celebrate with you and the adults. Good luck!
