< back to topic list >Suggestions for Setting A Date
I want to plan a beach wedding in Coronado for next summer, and I'm trying to set a date but i don't know what would be a good month as far as the weather is concerned. I would like it to be sunny but not too scorching hot, and I really don't want to risk and rain or cold weather. Any suggestions? Should I just have it somewhere in the August-September months? Anyone familiar with the weather out that way throughout the year? Thanks guys! :)

San Diego is pretty much fool-proof weather wise...especially anywhere by the coast, it is always beautiful! And I have lived in San Diego my entire life!
The only times to stay away from the coast in late spring into June, but that is really only in the mornings. We get "June Gloom" meaning the marine layer does not burn off until mid afternoon, leaving it very gray by the coast.
I also live in San Diego and anytime is seriously perfect. I got married on the coast of SD last year on the 18th of June and it was absolutely perfect. Last year the weather was weird in July and August as we had a few rainy days. If you're not familiar with the weather here "rainy" is considered "sprinkling" in other parts of the country :) You can't go wrong with a beach wedding! I had my reception at the Coronado Community Center which was AMAZING. I highly recommend it!
Everyone is right on! I've lived in San Diego all my life and the weather is usually pretty awesome all year round. I think the hottest months in this amazing city are June-August! I'd shoot for September...that's when the weather normally starts to cool down. FYI Coronado Community Center it's an amazing place, I've planned a few weddings there.
Good luck and congrats on your upcoming wedding!
Please keep in mind that usually the hottest months are August and September in San Diego (also Coronado). I would suggest October as it gets cooler in that month and you still don't risk rain yet.
Can you tell us where you are planning this event at? Do you know if the area has enough shade (like trees) so guests can be out of the sun? I am assuming this will be an outdoor event.
I hope that helps.
I got married in October last year and so did two of my other friends (not the same weekend as me) but it rained on all 3 of our wedding days :( Well not really rained but sprinkled, we usually don't have strong rainy days. Guess it's a hit or miss...I'm sure whatever day and month you choose, your wedding day will be perfect!
Thank you all so much for your input! Very helpful! :) I really appreciate your time! :)
I'm having my wedding Mid July in Coronado...and though I can't tell just yet what the weather's going to be like, you can't go wrong with Coronado in the summer time..or any time for that matter. It's probably the coolest spot in san diego because it's right in between the ocean and the bay...so there's always a breeze.
Can I ask where you're having your wedding in Coronado? I was thinking of having ours at Breakers Beach. Thanks for the advice everyone! :)
We're getting married at the Coronado Community Center--which is on the bay side off the strand. I wanted to do the beach at first, but then I thought there'd be a lot of distractions, and though I wanted the getaway tropical feel of the ocean in the background, the trash cans, kelp, flies, and tourists kind of switched my mind into having it on the North Lawn of the Coronado Community Center...which has boats, the bay, the bay bridge, and the golf course in the background.
