Not sure what your wedding vision is or how large a venue. But there is a castle north of St Aug in Vilano Beach. I think they still rent it out for ceremonies. Its called Castle Otttis. I'm a photographer (AkiPhotography), I'd be happy to get some info from other vendors if you'd like. And we love to talk with you about your photography. We used to drive to my family's home in S Fla, and would always stop going and coming back, stay at the Monterey Inn and sit on the patio and watch the boats and water. Always wanted to go on a ghost walk, but never have taken the time. All the best.

Hi!
We got married in November 2009, so I don't know much about July...except that you should check temps for that time of year. In my experience, St. A doesn't get that hot in the summer but for guests that may not be used to Southern temps, it's something to keep in mind.

I loved the authentic historic bit of St. A & it's natural beauty, rather than the "Disney-esque" stuff like Ghost Tours & Ripley's so if that's the direction you are heading, I would be happy to download what I know.

You picked a great location!

Beautiful location! There are many wedding venues in St. Augustine so it really depends on how many guests you're having and what type of "feel" you're going for with your wedding. Casual but really nice, water/beach locations... Kingfish Grill and the Reef are great. More upscale... River House (downtown St. Aug) and the White Room are fabulous.
When you're ready to talk about your wedding cake, please consider calling us... Defore's Cake Design (Kerry & Heather). We'd love to help you! (904) 824-3937 www.deforescakedesign.com

Congrats! My fiance and I are getting married on May 22nd in St. Augustine. Our ceremony is at the Cathedral Basilica and our reception is at the River House. River House is really beautiful! They do ceremonies also. If you also happen to be Catholic, I can help you with information on getting married in the Basilica. We're having our cake down by the lovely ladies at Defore's and Enchanted Flowers (used to be Sally's Roses) is doing our flowers. So if you want info on any of those vendors/places, I can help!

St. Augustine is a great wedding location...there are many venues and vendors to chose from!

Coongratulations! I'm getting married March 5 at the Cathedral then heading over to the Casa Monica for the reception. There are so many sites to have your wedding in St. Augustine. The Cathedral has some restrictions because it is old, however. A tip I suggest is to look at what's going on the week of your wedding because during my weekend it's Bike Weekend and I found that it was very difficult to get reasonably priced hotels to block also parking was the other issue. If you're lookiing into getting some help, I suggest going with a wedding planner. I'm using Alpha and Omega and they're awesome. They have handled the dirty work and ask the questions that I would've never thought of...Good luck on your wedding planning but most of all enjoy it!

The River House is a great venue right on the water and I think they are building a dock so you could even arrive by boat! They have beautiful indoor & outdoor space. There is also the Pena-Peck House on St. George Street which is very intimate & lovely. I also think the Armory has a lovely outdoor space. Oh, and the Fountain of Youth has beautiful grounds...they don't have much in the way of facilities but it could be beautiful for a morning wedding under the oaks.

For the evening...depending on your "style"...we had a rehearsal dinner at Creekside which was AMAZING and so much fun but it is very casual, maybe too casual for a wedding reception....
Our reception was at the Government House in the courtyard during "Nights of Lights"...it was truly stunning. Alfresco dining under the oak trees lit up with white fairy lights -- Culinary Outfitters did our catering and they helped a ton with "setting the stage." The only drawback for being downtown is the noise ordinance.

There is a wedding planner called "The Big Event" who knows St. Augustine inside and out. She helped me do some brainstorming which was fantastic. I didn't use her for the actual planning (I wanted to do it!), so can't vouch for that but I've heard great things and she has a wonderful personality.

I am getting married in September and have booked the Llambias House Gardens, which is a part of the Oldest House Gardens. (which is also very nice) It is a beautiful location and the manager, Jill, has been extremely helpful. Check out their website at www.staugustinehistoricalsociety.org. Jill is very good with responding via email ASAP. The gardens don't do a reception, but the Government house, which is right across the street from Casa Monica, will. You can use the first floor room and the courtyard. Hope this helps!
