Please, please, please no banquet halls. Does anyone have unique wedding reception locations they can suggest? I'm thinking a winery, a downtown building space we can rent, something other than a banquet hall. Thanks!

not a winery, but you can try the great lakes brewing company. my reception will be at the lakeside courthouse and it's obviously available for rent! :)
We had our reception at the 100th Bomb Group Restaurant on Brookpark Rd. in Cleveland. This place has a lot of character, historic/war memorials hanging on the walls, old planes and vehicles out on display in the yard and across the street is the Cleveland Airport. So, we had an outdoor patio off of our room that allowed guests to go outside and view the planes taking off and all the pretty lights. Noise was not a factor and it was so convenient for smokers (so they weren't miles away smoking in the parking lot).
How many people will you have? The House of Blues was an awesome space that we used for our ceremony. We had aver 300 people, so they couldn't fit us in for the reception, but the staff was amazing and totally professional. The whole thing was an AWESOME experience, and I would look into it. Also, I thought it was reasonably priced for such an eclectic and unique venue.
I felt the same way! I had my reception at the Old Arcade. It is an amazing space and run by the Hyatt, so they take care of all the tables, catering, and such. It was surprisingly affordable compared to other downtown offerings. The courthouse is another really popular unique venue downtown. I've seen some gorgeous pictures! There are some other options in University Circle - Crawford Auto museum, botanical gardens, and severance hall (I looked into the two latter ones and they were really pricey though.) In terms of wineries, you're going to have to look further east to Geneva. I went to a wedding at Debonne once and they have a great pavillion... only downside was they only let them serve Debonne wine (no beer or anything). Ferrante is another larger winery out there that could accomodate a wedding. Good luck!
Thanks for the help everyone! The Old Arcade is beautiful -- although our wedding will be very small -- probably under 75 people. The Arcade would dwarf us. :-) Thanks a lot!
