Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for a reception hall close to a nearby beach(CLEARWATER BEACH) that is inexpensive? I am in school full time and working. Start nursing school in the summer. There will be around 50 or so guests. We are looking for a place that is not expensive and will let us have our own food and decorations and such. Also close to the beach, want a very simple and quick ceremony on the beach no best man or bridesmaids. Also if you have any suggestions for food or decorations it would be greatly appericiated!

I am doing my wedding at Ft. Desoto beach. You can rent a beautiful shelter that holds 200 for about 80 dollars with grills, a place for dancing, and electricity. We are doing a cookout for our food, since it is on the beach. Also, the fort makes for beautiful pictures. I went to Oriental trading website for decorations and paid 150 for all of the decorations!

Hi BabyJubees! First of all congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Lambertst idea of Fort DeSoto is a great one!!! It is absolutely beautiful and quite inexpensive - but you do have to be out by sunset. So it really depends on what time of day you are looking to have your wedding and reception.

Another great option that is right in Clearwater is Sand Key Park - http://www.weddingsonsandkeybeach.com/ They have reasonable rates and it is a really beautiful place. I will tell you that we have done weddings at Sand Key Park where there are 4 or 5 weddings lined up on the beach and guests get confused about which one they need to go to. So if you decide on Sand Key Park make sure it is clear for your guests.

Most Pinellas County beachs do require some sort of permit if you plan on having chairs or any sort of an arch. So be prepared for that and make sure you get the permits, the fines involved with not getting them are a lot more money than the permits.

Please feel free to e-mail us at carlastehmanphotography@gmail.com if there is anything we can help with.

Hi
Thanks for the suggestions.
At first I was looking into Sand Key, I cannot find any nearby receptions halls. We wanna get married around sunset in May. Like I said keep it inexpensive. We have friends and family that provide us with services such as DJ'ing and such. I have looked into Clearwater Rec. Center, and possibly just getting married right before the reception on the beach. I can't really find any other reception spots.

When you say inexpensive, what does that mean to you? That term can mean different things to different people.

Have you checked out the St. Pete Beach Community Center? They are located at 7701 Boca Ciega Drive St. Pete Beach, FL 33706 http://www.spbrec.com/facility-rentals/ We have photographed a few weddings there and it is quite lovely right by the water, plus I hear they recently lowered their rental costs. Their prices do include use of the courtyard, ballroom, tables, chairs, kitchen, plus their staff sets up and breaks down tables and chairs.

Another great spot is Tampa Bay Watch on Tierra Verde. You can view their website at http://www.tampabaywatch.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=content.home&pageID=184 It is another truly lovely venue.

Best of luck!

I just saw your request and you can check out the clearwater sailing center. It is across the street from sand key park. I'm having my reception there in March because it offers a room and the veranda, but maybe you can use just one. It's about 1400 for both, but will probably be cheaper if you use just one. It over looks the water. We're having our own food and bringing our own liquor as well. Good Luck. I know how hard it is to find a place and not break the bank.
