I'm planning for my wedding to be mid october of 2011, but I can't get the planning off the ground because I havnt been able to find a reception hall that allows me to have my own caterer (my godmother is a licensed caterer) AND holds at least 300 people. I would like it to be under 1000 dollars to rent the room. I'm working on a tight budget, but I'd really like to be able to have a nice wedding/reception. Ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!!
We had our reception at the Depot in Duluth and it was a great space! It holds a lot of people and the price wasn't too bad. I think we paid around 900 because of the amount of people. But we were able to bring in our own caterer. They do have where you have to go through the Depot for the alcohol but for food they don't provide any of it. Hope that helps! Mary Karl at the Depot is the contact is she was great to work with. And plus the photo ops are great there
I have never been out there, but I remember from my own wedding planning that The Buffalo House allows you to bring in your own caterer if you rent their Buffalo Junction facility. I think the fee is $300.00 and the place can hold 300 people. From the pictures, it looks pretty rustic, but that could be fun.
Does that mean I have to buy all the alcohol my guests drink? Or is it just a bar thats there that guests buy themselves? I've left numerous messages for Mary Karl and haven't recieved a response. But I thought the pictures were beautiful and I'm really hoping its within my budget! Thank you!
I also looked into the Buffalo House Junction room. The price is right, but the "old west" decorations and solid cement floor is a little un-classy, I may just end up having it there though.... wonder if they'll let me bring in my own carpeting? ;)
We had a cash bar at the depot so it worked out perfect. You can choose if you want different beers or wine but they just have a standard cash bar. I think if you wanted to have an open bar you could but we went with the cash bar.
