My daughter is getting married in St. Petersburg next July. We looked at the Vinoy, and it is beautiful! She decided on the Don Cesar in St. Pete.
Have you looked at the Don yet? It is absolutely gorgeous, and it's right on the beach. The food is excellent there, and they have been very helpful.
Hi! thank you for responding, yes ive looked at the don, its my other choice im trying to decide between! I think the don was a little more expensive and since im having a wedding destination week and we are having the wedding on a wed, the vinoy have offered greater discounts for a weekday wedding. If you could let me know options for flowers, photographers, and music you go for that would be very helpful! thanks again
We are going to use "Celebrations of Tampa". They do the photography, video and D.J. Try to look on their website. We aren't sure about the flowers. Someone suggested to me Sharen's Flowers & Gifts on Treasure Island, Fl. for the flowers. We haven't checked with any other florists yet. The Vinoy is a beautiful place for a wedding. The Don Cesar and the Vinoy are both so expensive! How did you decide on St. Pete, Fl.? When is your wedding? We're from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My daughter wanted to get married in Fl., and St. Pete was the area that they liked best for their wedding. She's getting married on July 8, 2011.
I havent checked on music or flowers yet! but i choose st pete because i went to the university of south florida and was in tampa for 5 years, my fiance and i met in tampa and decided that is where we want to get married and for our families (my family is from NY and his is in England) to meet there for a destination week! We re gettin married august 11, the vinoy is expensive but they were willing to work on prices due to the weekday wedding! it saved us a lot of money, the don cesar on the other hand didnt budge much on prices! So i think we re going to go with the vinoy! Is she having alot of family come, or is it a smaller wedding?hopefully we can help each other with the plans, i am planning on visiting florida in jan to get more ideas with florists,dj, and photo! ive also been in contact with a bride who had a wedding at the vinoy and she had a great video made that i would like to do as well.
Hi! Natalie is probably going to have around 60-75 people. Are you going to have a large wedding? We looked at the Vinoy, but didn't check prices because Natalie wanted to be a venue that was on the beach. She originally wanted to get married in May. Nikki (the wedding planner at the Don) told us that the minimum that we would have to meet was about $17,000. The price dropped drastically in July. The minimum that we have to spend is $7,000. I know that we will go over that, but I hope that it won't reach $17,000!! Are you getting married at the Vinoy, or in a church? Natalie wanted to get married on the beach, but we are Catholic, and the priests won't marry you on the beach. (I think that is a crazy rule). She is getting married at the St. Jude Cathedral in St. Pete. Natalie and Eric are planning to go to Fl. in Jan., or Feb., too. There are still a lot of loose ends! Do you know who David Tutera is? He is the wedding planner that is on My Fair weddings, and does weddings for the celebrities. Natalie and I were so excited...we got to meet him a few weeks ago...He has so many great ideas for weddings!! I sure wish that he could do Natalie's wedding... We did get a lot of ideas from him, though.
Well tell natalie i said congrats from one bride to another!! its so exciting,my mom is doing so much for me as well, she is so excited! I just found my dress last week. Maybe ill have to email the don again, 7,000 is what im at for the vinoy too, so the prices sound about the same. I would like to get married in a church, but wasnt sure if anyone would marry a couple thats not part of the church without counseling. i hope i wont reach 17,000 either! we re hopeing 12,000 max with our flights and hotels and all. I looked in april and may as well, but my fiance is in the army and gets scheduled time off in aug. Im worried about the heat! but well have to deal with it!. Yes i know who david tutera is, how exciting!!! Ill email the don and see what they can come up with but im pretty happy with the vinoy, they also gave us a much cheaper hotel room rate for guests!
I will tell Natalie...and congrats to you, too!! Maybe you should stay with the Vinoy because you seem very happy with it! Natalie & Eric are going to stay at the Don for a few days. Me, my hubby, older daughter, son-in-law and my two grandchildren aren't staying at the Don. It's just way too expensive for us. I don't remember what it was..but..the Don didn't give us a very good rate. We rented a three bedroom house, with a pool...and it is close to the beach. Natalie and eric had to go to their priest in Pittsburgh, and there is paperwork that he has to send down to St. Jude's. When they go down to Fl. this winter they are going to meet with the priest there...but he doesn't have to counsel them...it's all done here. I'm getting really tired...but I'll write you in the morning and tell you how we got to meet David Tutera and spend time with him. Talk to you soon....

Hi Chelsea, Congratulations on your engagement!! It sounds like you have had a lot of great ideas given to you so far. The Vinoy is definitely a beautiful place for both a wedding and reception. The service there has always been fantastic. The Don Cesar is another fantastic choice as mentioned by a couple of people here. If you are looking for something right on the beach you might want to check out The Grand Plaza. They do beautiful weddings and the food has always been good, plus the prices are usually a little more reasonable than The Vinoy or the Don Ceasar.
