Hey there :-) First of all, congrats on your upcoming wedding! You must be so excited! What are you looking for in the Charleston area? I have some vendors I could recommend :-) Anything in particular? I did on-location hairstyling in Charleston for a destination wedding 2 years ago this May. The bride flew her family and friends to Charleston from Ireland so she could get married on Folly Beach. Great location you chose-- It's a very beautiful time of year in Charleston! ~Jennifer Please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or if you'd like those recommendations! 828.808.0280 email@example.com
Vicki, I'm getting married July 11th too! We will be married at the Harbour Club, which is right across from Waterfront Park. Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors to avoid that Lowcountry humidity.
I do know that in July it can often cool down significantly (to a comfortable temp) once the sun goes down; I would assume that would be the same in May. Can't wait! Congrats!
I coordinated a wedding 2 years ago at Magnolia Plantation. We had the ceremony by the water with about 100 guests. We had beautiful weather about 75 degrees, we had a good bit of wind but that did not effect anything really. In fact the wind blowing the mossing on the trees and the wedding party dresses made for great photos! I hope this helps.
Our wedding was May 2, 2009 and the weather was fantastic. But the weekend after ours the weather was very hot and sticky. It's kind of a crap shoot in Charleston in May with the end of the month generally being hotter.
Are you getting married at the Carriage House? That is a great location in May because you can get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather but you can also escape back to the AC. I have been to a few weddings and parties at that location and as long as you have the AC to run to you should be fine.
