I did not have my wedding there, but I work for the university and I would definatly recomend getting permission. The other problem is that even if you get permission they will not make it private so anyone could wander up during your cerimony. It is beautiful, true, but I would definatly talk to someone in the administrators office before I got too planned into it. We had ours outdoors at the Fayetteville Country Club. They were great and we did not have to pay a fee for using the place since they did our catering (very good food). They did all the cooking, cleanup, and preperation. The only thing we had to do was hire a DJ (avoid MS Soundworks in Fort Smith, they are awful) and set up the decorations we wanted.

But, if you are set on Old Main, I would definatly do some reasearch first. I have never heard of anyone having there ceremony there and I would be very remiss to do it myself.

Hi! I am a wedding coordinator & have planned numerous Old Main Lawn wedding ceremonies. They are beautiful & there are lots of spots to choose from with different feels to them. (Architecture, trees, open landscape) To reserve the space you go to the Facilities Management page through www.uark.edu and complete the outdoor space reservation request. It is correct that you are still on public property, so bikes, dogs, etc can cruise right by but I will say it's never been a problem for any of the weddings I have done there. People are respectful & stay at a distance. Also, check the campus calendar to make sure there aren't any major outdoor events (like a headliner concert) that might interfere. I would also check on construction as well if you venture into the lawn pretty far. Hope this helps! Feel free to contact me if you have other questions.

I got married on Old Main Lawn (I think I may have emailed you a reply yesterday). One thing I would recommend is to try to get Carnall Hall for the reception, that was what I tried to do but they were already booked. I ended up with the Event Place on Wedington and it was absolutely perfect (and you could bring in your own alcohol) but the ease for guests would be nice if they just had to cross the lawn. But as for the wedding on Old Main, do it! Absolutely gorgeous and got great pictures!
